Is my Blackberry a fake?

At the end of last year I bought a Blackberry Bold 9000 on ebay from a company called Amazon.Digital (sound suspicious - dam' right!).
They sent a phone that started crashing within days. Stupidly their emails all said :
please don't leave negative feedback or open a dispute to us. we'll try our best solve problem for you. we accept refund all payment within 60 days. we would like answer for the return postage too. at the bottom. More fool me: they sent me another dodgy non-functioning phone and the 45 days to raise a complaint came and went. At which point they cut off all communications. ebay still let them trade (as Amazon.digitial!!) and say there is nothing they can do. Having spoken to CAB they suggest that they can take it further if it isn't a legit phone.
How can I check? It won't even boot up now. Is there a store I can take it to or another place where they can verify either way. I'm sure Blackberry would be happy to have a dodgy company (with a lot of sales - no wonder ebay don't want to act on this) like this selling dodgy goods
Any thoughts?

A blackberry crashing a lot doesn't sound very unusual :P0

Take it to a Blackberry service centre and ask is it fake .
If so get on to Ebay and pay Pal if you paid that way .

Thanks jje.
At the risk of being obtuse, Please could someone tell me how I work out where a nearby Blackberry service centre is? I live in Luton and not doing well looking it up on the web.
(fair point Reclusive - I do hope they are slightly better than *this* though - two complete duds)0 -
Search for a Blackberry Repair Centre - then take it round - or if a current model compare at any mobile phone shop. You could also email BB with the IMEI number who would confirm if it was one of theirs.
CAB will not be interested in representing you, only closing down a fake supplier, so don't expect this route to get your money back.0 -
Have you tried restoring the device using the Blackberry software on your computer (dl from blackberry.com if you don't have it)? Did push email and BBM work on the blackberry when you were using it. Blackberry is quite a secure system, I'd imagine its hard to fake a device that could access the Blackberry servers. To be fair the Bold 9000 used 4.7/4.8 to my knowledge, when I had one it was notoriously unreliable. You might be better cutting your losses and buying one that runs on the more modern 6 or 7 OS.0
