  • Thanks for that will have a sort out in morning. Always wondered what to do with bras. Don't feel right taking them to charity but like other posters have said they are sometimes too good to throw away. Great idea!!

    Hi!

I was just about to send off my bras to the BreastTalk appeal, when I found this alternative one:

    http://www.bagitup.org.uk/Campaigns.aspx

Yorkshire Air Ambulance are aiming to collect 200,000 bras, which will net them £10,000 for their appeal, plus the bras are still sent to overseas areas where they can be used.

Seems to me that 2 different communities benefit from one donation!

I rang to check and the appeal is still current and I also found this website which also suggests it's genuine:
    http://www.brighouseecho.co.uk/news/Boost-for-39Bag-a-Bra39.3965561.jp

I'm not connected to this appeal or website, jsut thought it was good to have an alternative.

I think I also heard something that said Oxfam will now accept bras in their clothing collections/donations - but you may have to make the shop staff aware of it.

    Hope this helps! :j

Nice links. I must have a rummage - I'm sure I have a few bras that no longer fit me.

I did have to chuckle at one sentence in the BreastTalk website where they said they'd also be sending bras to women in countries where the price of a bra is more than a meal for their family. I wondered if they would send me one then! lol I've not long discovered that Matalan do larger size pretty bras for £7.

Seriously though, I think I'll split my donations 50/50 too.

    Thanks for the links

Bumping this as I'm sending mine off today :)

I've just replaced my sports bras and I can feed my family for a week for the price of one! Great appeal though - does make me realise how lucky I am to be able to afford the right support. Thanks.
  • Just saw this today and can't seem to find it on the forums anywhere.

Apparently charity shops can't do much with old bras because they are difficult to sell. This shop collects them and donates them to homeless (Shelter) and other overseas charities.

You have to pay your own postage but look upon it as a charitable donation?! Can ideas where else I can post this to promote the cause?

Hope this is useful to someone at least... it'll help with your clearout...
