thank you so much for this. I made it to have with tea. I added cheese that needed to be used and made it into rolls, it was a huge hit with the kids. Even hubby like it! :eek: also ideal for packed lunches i think.

Breadmaking's easy if you've got a mixer with a dough hook, or a breadmaker... but if you've neither and randomly want to make a proper loaf ...... it's the kneading that always stopped me. I have very weak wrists, so could never knead for long enough. The other offputting thing is where they tell you to put the bowl/dough somewhere warm.... if you don't have anywhere warm at all, it's another barrier.
That artisan bread seems interesting ..... the one where you just leave a bowl of stuff in the fridge and you grab as much as you need each day for weeks.
Same with anything that involved whisking (e.g. meringues) - 20 minutes or so of purposeful whisking was always too much.
I've made some great cheese loaves that don't need any yeast, or kneading though.
I've also been known to make bread in a frying pan, from just flour/water (and herbs/chilli sometims), just because I wanted an accompaniment to chilli con carne or a curry.0 -
Yes, you don't have to kneed for so long if you've got something like a Kenwood Chef with a dough-hook.0

My mum used to use her Kenwood food mixer thing with a dough hook to make bread. Saved getting messy hands from what I recall.
Unfortunately, I don't have one so got thoroughly frustrated when initially kneading the dough last night my hands were covered in the stuff! I hate messy fingers!
But I did find my rhythm and quite enjoyed it, found it very therapeutic
