Hi,
Can anyone help, I cancelled sky about a month ago, and have noticed since i have been paying more than i should have been, it turns out the have been charging me extra for the phone not being connected to the box, which it has, the box was faulty, my understanding was that as long as the line was connected for the first year contract term, then that should be fine, but they have been charging me since 2007 for no connection is this correct ??

As per the T's&C's it is your responsibility to ensure that the box is connected to the phoneline and checking your bill. If you had noticed that it wasn't functioning properly Sky would have sent out an engineer to solve the problem and once the box had made successful call back the charges would have been refunded. As you have cancelled your account without realising you were being over priced (and Sky's robust T&C's) you will struggle to regain the money. by all means write to them though.
Here is a tip, being very polite and admitting your fault (not checking your bill) will get you much further than being aggressive or threatening. My user name is SkyInsider... I worked for Sky quite some time ago, also worked for Virgin Media and a few other tech companies as a consultant. All views are my own

You are correct, connection to a telephone line is only required for the initial 12 months. However, that is never 'policed' for single box installations.
BUT, if you have multiroom, all boxes must be connected to the same telephone line at all times.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
You've not looked at one of your bills in 5 years-until you've cancelled? No free lunch, and no free laptop
