Temporary lodgings - suspend broadband?

Hi,
I'll be leaving my current home on the 20th June, and staying with some friends for July and August. They already have a broadband connection so I can't transfer my current supplier (Orange) across.
I'm locked into a contract until mid-November. I will need a broadband supplier from September onwards.
Having spoken to Orange, they told me about £60 of fees would be levied for early cancellation and the MAC code thing.
When I asked if it was possible to carry on paying my £17.75/month fee for July and August but have no "live" home phone or broadband (ie not connected to a physical location) they said it wasn't possible.
Has anyone had a similar experience before and been able to achieve this, or does anyone think they know how to swing it with Orange.
I'm reluctant to pay £60 in fees when I'd quite happily go back to them in September. Perhaps if I say paying this fee would make me reluctant to go with them in September?
Thanks for your help.
Richard

Honestly? Just unplug the phone and router. You'll pay your contracted rate and not have to worry about the early termination. If you want to modify your service in any way it results in a charge - since you cannot suspend, just let the service continue uninterrupted, as this will be the option of best value to you.0

That would be the easiest option but doesn't account for fact that new tenants will (though not immediately) move in and require the line.
Otherwise that's exactly what I'd do.0 -
You're not clear regarding 'new tenants'. Is this when you are absent, or when you finally depart? If the former, advise that any service used will be paid by them on presentation of the bill, or secure the master socket with a lock. If the latter, you will surely have terminated by then and can cancel without penalty?0

Are your friends in a contract? If not, maybe you can transfer your connection to your friends' house in July and then to your new place in September... they might like 2 months of free broadband which you'd have to pay anyway.0
