Disabled parking spot, driver now deceased

Hello, my next door neighbour had a parking spot marked out, outside their house as she was disabled. She died a few weeks ago. What happens about the parking spot, can anyone park in it now? Does it have to be reported anywhere? If someone else, without a blue badge parks in the spot, can they be given a ticket?
Thanks in advance.

I gather it's on a public highway with a bay marked out and signs there ? if so then yes you can be given a ticket without displaying a bluebadge, because the bay is there for all disabled people who hold one. The council would have to remove it for anyone to park at that specific place.Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
If the is no sign and only markings on the road then it is just advisory and not enforceable so not ticketable.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Never heard of a special disabled bay for one individual? Private land or highway?0

Some local authorities will provide these, particularly in areas of difficult parking or permit zones etc.
If there is no restriction sign next to the space, it is only advisory, so you can park there.
If there is a restriction sign, you will need to ask the council to remove the bay, as otherwise it is a designated disabled parking bay, for holders of a blue badge.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
On a similar note - Does anyone know the position with former diplomatic bays?
The country concerned has moved to a bigger office in another part of town but two spaces remain outside their old place, which is in a very difficult and expensive to park area.
I shall look for restriction signs the next time I'm past.0 -
Certainly in our area there are disabled parking spaces in the road outside particular houses. No other signage except that the space is marked "disabled".I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -

There has to be an upright sign as well or you could appeal any PCN successfully.
We have one in our street where the disabled lines on the road are extremely faded, but there is an upright sign attached to the garden wall (a proper Council disabled bay sign). So it's there for anyone with a Blue Badge to park in only and we avoid it of course.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Im all for randomly located parking bays. Put them in places where no one is ever likely to park, just for the hell of it. Like a Disabled Parking Bay at the North Base Camp on Everest, at 16,900 ft. Or one at Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station..........ofc the snow accumulates at the rate of 8 inches a year, so the lines will nee repainting every 3 months.....
Then I want them regularly patrolled by Traffic Wardens.......**** I hereby relieve MSE of all legal responsibility for my post and assume personal responsible for all posts. If any Parking Pirates have a problem with my post then contact me for my solicitors address.*****0 -
Some councils will provide them and apply a TRO making them for the use of blue badge holders only.
Salford provide them but they are advisory only:

Bolton Council don't provide disabled bays at all.0 -
Thanks for your replies. It is on the public highway. Its just a marked out bay in front of my neighbour's house with a disabled motif on the road to show its a disabled bay but no other signage. Our houses are terraced houses and its a busy road with parking spaces sometimes hard to find. It was put there as she was a blue badge holder and needed to get a parking spot outside her house as she couldn't walk far. When they initially came to mark it, they were going to put it half outside her house and half outside mine until I asked them to put it fully outside her house so I could park outside my own house.0
