i know there are no rules to say you have to post comps but IMO its only politeness
Sometimes it comes down to time.
I post competitions but, there has been occassion when I have entered, but not had the time to post.
I do come back later to see if it has been posted and, if not, will do so, but time is a factor for many, I would have thought.
It's not necessarily a selfish thing or being impolite.Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.0 -
I love this site and have met some lovely people. In the main, it's a friendly forum but I do think it's got a bit more formal over the last couple of years.
We used to post jokes and comments much more frequently than we do now. I put this down to so many more people are using it that it's got a bit up it's own backside!0 -
I wouldn't take the comments posted by Deb Phillipson too seriously.
She is well known at the newgroup uk.rec.competitions and she's been banned from Loquax.
I used to regularly visit the newsgroup but stopped visiting because of Deb and her incessant posting. She used to flood the newsgroup with competitions pinched from Loquax and MSE.
She used to (probably still does) post about 4 or 5 comps a minute, copied and pasted from other sites, and completely wrecked the newsgroup.
I would like to thank the MSE competition posters, and hope they (and others) have lots of wins.
Good luck0 -
I've always been intrigued by this? I, like many others use this forem to enter so many comps that the kind people post for us. I am really curious to know? Do those that post comps prolifically do well? I know for myself, it takes most of my spare time to even enter, let alone post the comps. I'd really love to know if you just post the comps, or do you reap the benefits? I don't want to offend anyone by not naming them here, cos each comp post is one we wouldn't have otherwise, but ones that come to mind are maybe Laks, Weeowen, C Cat, Elver Man, Jambo, One Eye,Firefly?
I'd love to know you get some rewards for your ongoing effort.
Hi, I've won quite a lot in the past from bags of crisps & tins of food to electrical items such as PSP's & Ipods, even won a great holiday to New York with spending money.
However, I now enter very few competitions and still only enter if I know I would use the prize myself or if it can be used by immediate family.
I enjoy posting comps for others to enter and enjoy being part of MSE.Thoughts:

Thats the trick - many people enter every single thing going for example dog food or dvds when they have no intention of doing anything but selling them (recent report in a mag about a k cakebread who 'boasts' she sells items regular)
To me this is a shame as someone who may really want the prize isnt getting the chance another good example can be seen on winners circle who post winners - the same names win day after day alot, but dont get jealous or angry about it .
Just enter what you'd love to win and enter as many as you can find for the items you want and eventually or maybe quicker the comping fairy win sprinkle her dust..Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:0 -
cant quite believe the earlier comment, as many other MSE'ers I too work full time and am a mother to a small child but I just love comping! I fully appreciate all members who are so dedicated and post regularly, each time I try, the comps are already listed...maybe I will manage to add something in future!
However, i dont see why it would be anybody else's business WHY people enter comps so thought that the comment was a bit out of order.
Again, thanks to all and comping luck to all!)))
Thanks to all those fab compers who post:j:T0 -
Just to add 'weeowens' idea is one i wish every single
competition would employ - Go by IP address, now some people say but there are others in my household who also comp, thats perfectly fine because whoever wins - say Sally Doe or Peter Doe or John Doe
then the company should ask for identification, that way we all know the prizes have been won fairly and squarely.
Also i wish all the UK comps aimed at UK residents were only open to UK - far far far too many foreigners entering comps aimed at UK residents - i dont see any benefit of 'aktall akamundi' from timbuktuu winning a shopping voucher for a shop in scotland.
But with all this and all the other comms said, as long as youre prepared to spend time finding and entering comps you will win, its the law of averages (hence why even now 'window canvassing' is still big business, the more doors you knock the better the chance)..
Anyway good luck to all and dont worry about what others win just concentrate on your own comping and you can always ask any of the posters for tips and tricks they are all very helpful....Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:0 -

I'd like to post more comps but all the ones I find have already been posted.I shall have to try and find some obscure ones.lol.
I try as well, I got really excited when I was there first posting a daily mail win a house comp. I was praying someone like nudge, cornish pasty, laks or weeowens etc would win as I really appreciate the time and effort they put in!
I have to admit I love the thrill of entering, done quite well and think you have to remain positive. A recent win certainly has helped with the money situation here at home!Aim to win in 2013 - a holiday somewhere nice, New York break, treats for family & friends & some cash would be lovely!!!0 -
And I have entered comps for years, I can remember I used to subscribe to a monthly mag called prize draw news! I would sit there going through and entering, used to buy stamps and postcards in bulk......than goodness for the internet, far more fun!!Aim to win in 2013 - a holiday somewhere nice, New York break, treats for family & friends & some cash would be lovely!!!0
