I think it would be difficult as there are so many members. Everyone in my household regularly visit MSE, it would be very difficult to police who the trolls actually are.
    Possibly it would,Daphne01

I'd rather that than the AE's trolling or posters "killing " off a user name & then returning to here with a "clean slate,as it were.
Some do it for perfectly innocent reasons that I understand but others use it to hide past conduct.
I had a slight user name change ,approved by MSE admin, but never tried to hide from any past comments/posts on here as some have done.
One very busy poster changed her user name last year but I do not refer to her in the above as we were all were quite clear of the old user name etc.
No offence intended to the above :-)

Yes, I agree and feel MSE has changed hugely in the passed six months. Not for the better unfortunately:(

Not sure why Deb Phillipson (if that is indeed her real name) thinks all compers are "workshy, freeloading single mother types and married older women ... who are clearly bored with their DHs".

I actually work full-time, have no children and have a lovely new boyfriend that I'm definitely not bored with. I've also got a busy social life in the real world but I make time for comping as I enjoy it. I'm sure there will be many other people on here that also have busy, fulfilled lives whether it be with their children or DHs or whatever. No reason why people can't spend a few hours a day comping as well as fitting in other things, Deb. I have excellent time management skills, don't you know?!

I'm quite shocked tbh. I haven't posted very much but spend quite a bit of time 'lurking' in the inn and the 'I won, I won, I won' board and this is the first bit of negativity, though from what I've read it's downright b!tchiness to be honest.

I'm not working at the moment, I'm far from workshy though, my son's only 10 weeks old, I'll be returning to work once he's a little older. I also have a 3 year old and a very entertaining DH! Some days I enter 5 competitions, somedays 50, sometimes I just have a read and go to bed, depending on how much sleep I had the previous night. I don't really know anyone on here, though names are becoming familiar, and I've never heard of Deborah Phillips, but if she's a successful comper and on a lot of peoples FB then maybe someone ought to let her know about this thread? I'm sure someone has, but just incase :)

It could be the genuine lady herself, but I find it doubtful using her full name?

    xxx
    Started comping 23/05/12
Thankyou to everyone who takes the time to post competitions
    Wins: Pantera CD, Hunter Wellies

Sos, I know people say best to ignore, which is probably right, given that whoever the poster is, what they wanted to achieve was to upset everyone here. But all I want to say is that it really made me laugh lots. I find it hilariously ironic that they chose to Troll by saying that others here should get a life. Talk about a pot calling a kettle black :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Thank you, whoever you are for my first giggle of the day.

since I have retired I have time to post as well as entering all the comps I would like to win, and I do get my fair share of wins, would always like a few more, I do believe in fate and that if you are meant to win you will no matter how many people enter.

    regards Jambo
I do it just for fun and whatever I win is a bonus

I enter loads of comps via MSE and facebook. I do quite well (even though im small fry really compared to a lot of compers). I do share on facebook but i dont post up on MSE - this thread being a classic example of how a simple question can turn into negativeness (its one of the bad sides of having a forum - we all have enough crap in real life so i think its a bit sad to spoil the virtual life too), if i discover a new comp i usually let someone know who will post it up for me - but by the time they have read my message someone else has usually posted it up! usually anything shared on facebook makes it on the boards within the hour!

All I can say is dont expect to win and when you do it will be a lovely surprise and just enter as many as you can in the time you have for the things you or your family would love to have.

I love comping as I moved over 40 miles away from family and friends and my OH works long hours and I only have a little part time job as a dinnerlady so its a great way of winning things we wouldnt usually buy, my 10yr old loves gadgets and my family love me when they come to visit because they usually go home with any unused winnings! and its great for saving money on buying presents if you win them!

I just wanted to wish everyone good luck (especially all the posters of comps and the positive people who make comping so much fun) please dont be put off by negative comments! best of luck to you all xxx

Thanks for replying Weeowens, I do think there are so many people comping these days, it really is a lottery. So glad you have some return for all you do,

I think it is a lottery - or luck of the draw.

My wins tend to come in phases - I had nothing for over a week, then have won four times in the last three days.

There are many people entering competitions now but, I always think 'keep fingers crossed and luck may shine' :)
Dear Lord, I am calling upon you today for your divine guidance and help. I am in crisis and need a supporting hand to keep me on the right and just path. My mind is troubled but I will strive to keep it set on you, as your infinite wisdom will show me the way to a just and right resolution. Amen.
