BP 2 year LPG gas contract termination

I have cancelled my 2 year contract which is now over 18 months ago they have just uplifted the tank. Now there saying I owe them £180 for the uplift of said tank!!! I may add the 2 year contract was signed back in 2007 so obviously it should have ran out 2 years later but not according to bp it just continues!! Legally do I have to pay the uplift charge which they claim is a reasonable fee !!

Please see my answer here - in the Bulk LPG thread where you first posted this. Without reading the small print of your contract it's hard to be definitive. But I think BP may be trying it on. Good luck!

I had LPG with BP for 18 years though we refused to sign a contract with them and just paid when we got the gas. Two years ago we decided to change to oil as we were fed up with BP's attitude to its customers.
We changed our boiler, radiators etc.
When we informed BP we had to give them 42 days notice of termination and they told us we would have to pay £150 plus vat for the uplift. Our tank had about 60% gas in it and we were also told we would not get a refund for it.
The company that came to uplift the tank told us THEY were allowed to sell the gas for themselves.
One of the many reasons we wanted rid of LPG is being tied into one company. With Oil we just phone around the 5 suppliers in our area and get the best price. No contracts, no hassle.
