Hi, New poster here! I planned, organised and arranged my parents wedding in ten days, and they had a church wedding! Unfortunatly our's was done quickly for negative reasons rather than positive ones like yours,
Firstly many congrats on the pregnancy, how far are you?
Secondly congrats on the wedding!
Places like M and S do pre made picnic food/platters that could be an option? we hired a function room in the local pub for my parents reception. Good luck with your planning x0 -

OH bought a suit yesterday on sale for £65, he managed to wangle a free shirt and tie with that!
We have a hifi in the garage all set up and ready to play
I make cakes so I am doing my own, just a small one
Im either going to buy some nice flowers and just tie them together with ribbon or our local college do some really nice cheap arrangements - Im going to talk to them and see what they have got
Transport - my brothers borrowing a friends black merc and is putting ribbons on it for me
My Auntie & Uncle are paying for the food
My Dad and Stepmother are paying for the booze
As we've only invited 20 we just told them all the date and time, but if I see some nice invites going cheap I may get them too
All the guests are going to take pics then hopefully we will have lots of nice ones to select from
We bought my ring today for £39 and OH is going to have his late fathers
Yellowcrocus - I absolutely love the idea of the jars and candles! Thank you. We arent having bridesmaids. Tbh I thought it was a bit pointless seeing as we will only be in the registry office for 5 mins!
Thanks all xx
It sounds wonderful!!!!!!0 -

I'm glad you like the candle idea, we intend to do this for ours...

Congratulations OP - your wedding sounds wonderful. We had a quick and very simple wedding last year and it was the happiest day of our lives and very stress free...bliss.
We asked 6 friends to bring posies of flowers from their gardens to plonk in old teapots we had, one for each table: they loved contributing and they were all so different and pretty. We still have one that dried out naturally with lovely seedheads and it is on our mantel piece. We didn't have an official photographer either and have loads of happy snaps friends took that captured all those unposed moments.
Friends who loved cooking made lots of little cakes and others sandwiches.
No colour scheme either, hurrah.
Friends and family loved helping in a totally non taking over sort of way.
All over in 3 hours and then we escaped to a hotel for a night.
You won't regret going for it I promise you - your emotions when you are standing there saying your vows will be overwhelming.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Hi where are you based? I have lots of different Jars I could give you to make your candles, people have been saving them up for my wedding in August but they I have got so many now I can't possibly use them all.
They look really pretty with a tea light in and just some ribbon tied round or I have frosted them like this

we are having a wedding cake made of cheese and just serving it with lots of crackers and chutney this may be another idea for your food.
Supermarkets do free glass hire, check out sainsburys, morrisons etc

Congratulations!
I had an outdoor wedding reception in April after our registry office, with 65 guests
We covered tables with paper tablecloth (£4 for 25m roll) used jam jars filled with flowers and a bit of ribbon/lace wrapped round, and took the petals off a few heads to scatter around. The flowers we bought from the local shop, I had so many I got them down to £1 a bunch (spent £90) also used them to do boquets for me and my bridesmaids as well as button holes.
We served fish and chips (4.50 a head) and had bucks fizz /cava for speaches and a few boxes of wine and the small continental sized beers and sholer and squash.
In the evening we had cheese and biscuits with pickles fruit nibbles and cup cakes.
We overbought a lot of food so we didn't run out, so we have plenty left over, probably last till Christmas!
You don't need to spend lots or keep up with the jones's to have a fantastic day. Enjoy!0 -
Thank you all so much for the lovely replies
yellowcrocus - thanks for the links, they are inspiring
sugarwalsh - I hadnt thought about food for the evening, pizza is a very easy, quick idea thanks
ladymarmalade - we've decided to go for fish & chips. We can pre-order it too so its ready when we want it
Rachael021101 - thank you, im 17 weeks today and with it being twins Im huge already!
brighton belle - I love the idea of everyone bringing a posie. And the teapots sound very quaint
daisyboo - that is so very kind of you. I am in Doncaster, are you very far away? I did think if having a cake made of cheese but as I make cakes anyway I just thought it would be the cheapest option. I hope your day goes perfectly
Vlm1986 - your day sounded lovely. Where did you find the tablecloth roll?
I had a little get-together last night with some friends (kind of a sedate hen party!), one of the girls offered to do my hair the morning of the wedding as she used to be a hairdresser and another offered to do my make-up, she used to work on a make-up counter doing makeovers etc :T
The girl who's doing my hair also said she would buy my wedding flowers as a wedding present. I feel so so lucky to have such amazing friends and family:j:T Gorgeous twin girls born 1st Nov 2012 :T:j0 -
Sounds so lovely and what nice friends you have
