Hi, Im hoping some of you lovely people can give me some hints on making my very MSE wedding day perfect!

I am getting married on the 21st June. We only booked it last week, crazy I know, but I am pregnant with twins and wanted to just 'bite the bullet' before I get any bigger and before the babies arrive.

We have just booked the local registry office and are planning to have a garden party reception (hoping the weather is nice). A relative of OH is lending us a 20ft x 10ft marquee and we have a couple of picnic tables in the garden already.

My dress is just a long white summer dress I found online that I liked. I have never been able to imagine myself in a 'wedding dress' so didnt really want to go down that route. Oh and it only cost £20 :money:

We were planning to get a few banquet takeaways from the local all you can eat chinese restaurant but we found out yesterday that they are closed on our wedding day, so will probably have to do a buffet. There are only 22 people including us to cater for so not too bad.

Anyway, I was hoping you could help me with anything I might miss as my brain is addled!

Thank you all in advance xx

    Oh wow!!!!

Double congratulations! That is so romantic...what a lovely start for your babies. :D

I think your plan sounds amazing, just a few thoughts...

Are you planning any bridesmaids and what will they wear?

Do you want any flowers? They don't have to be costly, I am planning to make my bouquet out of whatever I can lay my hands on, I love wildflowers...or you could assemble a posy with a few cheap bunches from the supermarket.

Cheap and easy ways to beautify your party? For example flowers and candles in clean jam jars, do you have tablecloths?

Do you want a cake? Could someone make it for you?

    Do you have rings?

I have to say, your lovely plan has reminded me what it's all about and has made me realise I'm getting a bit bogged down in unnecessary details.

Very best of luck...I hope the sun shines for you x

Congratulations (on getting married and on expecting twins!!).

Just a couple of things to bear in mind:
Do you have somewhere to store the food and keep it chilled until its time to serve?
Do you have adequate work service space to lay it all out?
You could always do things like a big pot of chilli, curry or some lasagnes etc and then just heat them up when you return.

Things to think about (these are off the top of my head, you may not want most of the things, but just things to consider)

Will you be playing music? if so do have a decent system to play them on? do you need to do a playlist?
    What will your oh wear?
Will you provide drinks or people bring their own?
    Cake?
    Flowers?
    transport?
How are you going to invite people? (ie do you need to get invites or email or phone people)
    Photos?

Im trying to think what else there is. None of the above are essential, Im just trying to think of the extras that people have!

Good luck and enjoy the planning!:D

Thank you so much for the replies and the congrats!

OH bought a suit yesterday on sale for £65, he managed to wangle a free shirt and tie with that!

We have a hifi in the garage all set up and ready to play

I make cakes so I am doing my own, just a small one

Im either going to buy some nice flowers and just tie them together with ribbon or our local college do some really nice cheap arrangements - Im going to talk to them and see what they have got

Transport - my brothers borrowing a friends black merc and is putting ribbons on it for me

My Auntie & Uncle are paying for the food

My Dad and Stepmother are paying for the booze

As we've only invited 20 we just told them all the date and time, but if I see some nice invites going cheap I may get them too

All the guests are going to take pics then hopefully we will have lots of nice ones to select from

We bought my ring today for £39 and OH is going to have his late fathers

Yellowcrocus - I absolutely love the idea of the jars and candles! Thank you. We arent having bridesmaids. Tbh I thought it was a bit pointless seeing as we will only be in the registry office for 5 mins!

    Thanks all xx

McKneff - forgot to say, we did contemplate a bbq but felt it was a bit mean to ask someone to stand at a bbq and cook for us all!

    Thanks though xx

I saw some beautiful wedding pictures recently where the hall was decorated with some cheap plastic bunting (bound to be on special offer at the moment!), white table cloths, coloured napkins and just a few freesias in jars...it was lovely, so simple and informal.

I'm glad you like the candle idea, we intend to do this for ours...

Congratulations! It sounds lovely. Why not ask your friends to bring their own picnics? That could be really lovely? Decorate with wild flowers (dog daisies, cow parsley etc) in jam jars. Lots of candles, borrow or make bunting and borrow lots of solar lights. In the evening you could provide picnic blankets (borrow or get cheap fleecey ones) and buy some pizza to pop in the oven. A firepit with marshmallows would round evening off perfectly!
Congratulations by the way, your life is about to get a whole lot more exciting!

You'd be surprised...that would be my H2B's idea of heaven:D

What about a different type of takeawy....curry, pizza, or even the plain old fish and chips. I would be happy to eat any of those as a wedding guest!
