Canceling Wanadoo Broadband within 1st 12 months

Hi All
i have friend that has got a major problem , he has been with wanadoo broadband for 3 or 4 months now , but due to unforseen circumstances he had to move back home ( he is australian) is there anyway he can cancel his broadband contract ? without paying out the rest of the contract.
any advise will be greatly apreciated
