as we owed so much money and the repayments were only leaving us with £35. per week for food ..elcectric... and petrol etc.... we have re-mortgaged.... so now we have £125 odd per week.....
but i still want to try and get extra cash in... so aprt from selling stuff on ebay and amazon.....
i applied to deliver leaflets.... ages ago.. anyway i had my first drop today.... and what the heck have i left myself in for....
they said i would be only delivering to a 1000 properties...but there is 1788.... and there are 3 leaflets and a newspaper....per household...
it works out at £34 per 1000.....
plus i got to pay £7.70 for the bag:eek:
but it was optional.. but how the heck was i going to carry all those leaflets....
does anyone else deliver leaflets....how did you find it..in the way of getting extra money in.... and also physically....
i must admit i am not the most energetic person on the planet.....
plus any tips.....i am just finishing off my cuppa.. and then going to make a start....on the ones i can do without the car.... as i am not going to be able to carry many at a time... because of the newspapers.....

The lady who does them on my estate must be about 60 i would imagine by looking at her.
She has one of those wheelbarrows that has the folding sack in it, instead of the rigid ones she uses to wheel about what she cant carry.
Maybe a shopping trolley would work? the kind you buy, not the ones from asda.
If you get what i mean?0 -
if you are going to use the car for some is it actually going to be worth it by the time you deduct fuel costs and its gonna take ages to do 1000 drops I admire your spirit good luck0

I used to deliver my local free paper when funds were tight. I used to work from 11am-3pm, then go and deliver the papers, and then back to work at 6.30pm until 7am the next morning.
I worked out where the middle point of the rounds were, and then drop my car off with the papers in. The disadvantage with using a trolley rather than a bag, is that you can't fold the papers/leaflets while you're walking. You'll spend more time stopping to pick stuff out of the bag.
The main thing to remember is that by walking you will improve your fitness, and strength, and you'll then be able to carry more.
Take it one step at a time, and remember that you're doing this for the cash, and every paper/leaflet will bring you some money into your DFW account!0 -
When she was a teenager my sister used to deliver the local free paper - she gave it up after a few weeks because it was actually taking the whole family to do it and nobody was getting anything else done!
It IS a lot of work, and if you're planning on using the car you may find it's not really worth it at all. I would give it a chance though - a week or two to get into it and work out whether the extra you're earning is really worth the time and effort.
In terms of time you spend doing it versus financial gain you'd probably be better off doing a couple of shift in the corner shop or pub. Not sure if this is an option for you?"People who "do things" exceed my endurance,

thanks peeps..... with the petrol cost they do give you a allawance of 15p odd per mile.....
by all accounts the local authority papers are every 3 months....
plus the leaflets might not be every week .... but if i wanted to travel and do other areas.... then it might be regular...
i expect if i look at it as though i am being paid to lose weight and get fit.....
plus as you say every paper/leaflet delivered is getting me closer to being debt free... even if it is pennies...
maybe i need a virtual deliverying buddy to keep me motorvated...even b efore i have started....Work to live= not live to work0 -
That's a good way to look at it. Most people pay money to a gym to get fit and then they never go. This way you get money everytime you exercise so it's a pretty good deal. Each leaftlet is a bit more money towards being debt free and it'll probably make you spend less as you realise that to buy something for £30 would take you about 1000 leaflets to pay off. A good incentive not to spend. Good luck xxJanuary budget

the copmany that i have had the leaflets from is a franshied thing...... you get paid into the bank.....
i got to deliver the leaflets by sunday... then drop or post paper work to the office.. which is also a shop.... then the money will be in my account 2 weeks after that..... so i presume the first week is for back checking... to make sure i delivered.. and the the money is paid the week after....
the company is called dor 2 dor......
with this lot i have worked it out i will get just over £65.,,less the money for the bag....which i can only get 70 newspapers in.....was hoping that a bundle of 100 would fit....
i have worked it out i need to deliver 357 lots per day to deliver them all.....and i thinks thats about £13.ishWork to live= not live to work0 -
I helped my Dad doing this for a while and it is tough for the money, hilly streets and houses with gates are the worst not to mention dogs
He had a couple of the fabric trolleys, we could get loads of papers in and it saves your back.
Good luck with it...just keep thinking of the money when your feet are tired etc
