Does he drive, he must worry about his car too in such a rough area.

If it can happen to yours it can happen to his.......
No unfortunately not. I'm guessing he spends his dole money on drugs, and could never afford lessons, never mind have the mental capacity to pass a driving test. Ok these are sweeping assumptions as I know little about him, but I could be correct.

I have an idea where he lives and it would not be too difficult to find out, but if I were to engage in any sort of activity like throwing eggs or smashing his house's windows because he did it to my car, then I would be as bad or worse than him.

By the way, have you spoke to him about dropping litter in your garden?
I'd like to see anyone manage a reasoned conversation with him.

Not paranoid at all. He's got an attitude problem. Only event I seem to remember clearly to illustrate his attitude is one day I left my house and he was playing cricket along with his girlfriend and her sister. I exit my gate and he makes some comment something like "well he should not be there then should he" (in a 'tough speak' sort of put on voice tone), encouraging somene else to throw the ball despite me being there. The ball hit the back of my leg. Like I should not be allowed to enter and exit my own house?! I just ignored him because I know with his attitude, saying excuse me, etc, would only help escalate the situation.

Me, my mum, and my sister who has lived elsewhere for a good few years concurr he's not a particularly great person.

I'd like to assume that all people were nice, and that I could get on with anyone, but unfortunately some people just aren't nice. Had he ever come across with a genuine, positive, kind attitude, what I think about him would be very different.

Luckily nothing further has happened to the car so far so I may have been concerned over nothing, but my thoughts were if you can take an egg out of the fridge and throw it, you can take a knife out of the drawer and slash the tyres, or a key out of your pocket, or just kick the mirrors off etc. Washed it off no damage done but just hate people who think they're justified in doing things like that.

Funny thing is their egg cost more than the car did.

Big difference between throwing an egg on a car & smashing someones house windows.......

I can believe you allowed them to throw a cricket ball at your leg without saying something........

If you didn't see who threw the egg then as far as you should be concerned nobody threw the egg.

You obviously have such an animosity towards this person that you are happy to express your dislike in a public forum. I wouldn't be suprised therefore if others living near you are aware of your feelings and it wouldn't be beyond the boundaries of possibility that someone else threw the egg to stir up trouble knowing who you would point your finger at.

If someone is so sad that their idea of fun is throwing eggs at your car then don't give them the satisfaction of knowing that they have got to you. Give them the same level of attention as you would to a bird if it messed on your car.
