Yes it is the retailers responsibility, all they would do though is contact the manufacturer so your just cutting out the incompetent middle man here by going to the manufacturer

Thanks for all the posts.... erm the model number is WF0702WKE

As I understand it, the machine weighs the load and modifies the estimated time based on this; is this not how it works?

thnaks again for all posts... I take your points, but if the machine weighs a load and adjusts times based on this, surely being out by upwards of ten minutes is not reasonable?

I'll have to check and take some photos of start and end times etc.... maybe I'm being over picky

It weighs the load for the initial finish time, but that will still vary during the cycle. A 5kg load of jeans for example isn't going to drain as quickly as a 5kg load of shirts during the emptying cycles, they're going to need longer to drain and spin, the machine won't know that until it's reached that point in the cycle.

If you're talking about being 10-20 mins out, then yes, you are being very picky and unrealistic. That is a pretty normal variation and would be the same on any washing machine with a timer function or end time display. It's and indication, not a guaranteed time.

Did you tell Samsung and Comet that it was only a short period of time out when you spoke to them?

It would appear that initially it was the noise you weren't happy with on your previous thread now it is the timer.

Is this really a case of buyers remorse?

That doesn't appear to be the whole story.

    From Samsung's website...

So there's two more variables, incoming water pressure and incoming water temperature, that can affect the 'end time'.

As they say... "Don't be alarmed". ;)

Ahh that's not so bad.... to be fair it does says that you can calibrate the machine for a more accurate assesment of the time it'll take etc. I assume it does an empty rinse etc and from that can gauge the water flow etc better.

I accept your point, but re: the jeans and t-shirt example... I think there are different cycles for them, so surely the washer would account for this?

5ish minutes out to me seems reasonable, but upwards of ten minutes is a significant quantity of time in my opinion

I did tell comet and samsung; comet told me that Samsung would get me to press a few buttons which would reset the control panel, but the ggirl at Samsungg believes an engineer visit its necessary.... As previously mentioned, I queried her on this, but she still thought it was necessary.

That's because I initially thought it had one of those quiet drive motors, but this isn't the case.

As for buyer's remorse, well I dont want a refund, I want an exchnage for the same model... if it turns out that upwards of 10 minutes is an unreasonable time to be out.

The bumpf that was quoted above says it could be out by several minutes; now we're getting into semantics and pedantry here, but several to me means more than two, but not as highh as 10...?

We have actually changed to an LG direct drive which is quiet from a 7 year old Samsung which was quite loud on occasions and was a pain to balance at times.

    How is the LG?

We were stuck in a bit of a catch 22 as the washer is actually for my mum... We were planning to save and get one of the £700 lgs.... however, on the day I and wor lass returned from our hols, my mum's tv broke, hence we've already soent £550 on a tv for her

Then a week later the washer went... we were actually going to buy a cheap beko (ideally black) as a replacement, but there was nothing decent in stock for £300ish, so we decided to increase our budget....

There was a lovely looking black beko for £429, but I refuse to pay over £400 for a Beko, hence we spent £400 on the samsung.... hopefully there is nothing wrong with it, as it is a nice washer.... although I'd prefer a different colour to white, but I don't have the budget for that, so have to be realistic.

Bleurgh.... I hate buying technological stuff.....

I agree that there is nothing wrong with your machine.
I have an expensive washer/dryer and it does the same.
If I add wash (e.g 1h25) and drying (2hr) cycles, it comes up with 3h45 total time. And then does it its own thing altogether.

I wish it just had an indicator that tells you where it's at (wash, rinse, softener etc), it would probably be more accurate.

I would not worry if I were you.

My Hotpoint tells lies as well, keeps adding "a few more minutes" when you're not looking. :rotfl:

The LG is great and soooo quiet. I did hear the missus moaning a load was taking longer than expected this week though to be followed up with a "I guess I put more than I thought in".
