Cracked Blackberry screen

My daughter dropped her 4 week old Blackberry Bold 9900 and cracked the screen. I realized this was not covered by the warranty so when i had calmed down i set about finding out how much it was going to cost to fix.

This was not as easy as i had thought. Carphone Warehouse would not repair it as i had not bought it from them as they are not authorized to work on Blackberrys (they all have to be sent to Blackberry i'm told) and the place i purchased it from would not touch it as it was not covered by the warranty and offered no other help.

I cannot take it to one of the phone repair shops that are everywhere as i invalidate the warranty and getting in touch with Blackberry themselves has proved fruitless as there is no contact numbers or email address on their website just support topics which aren't relevant.

Can somebody please tell me how on earth i get this phone repaired legitimately.

Phones 4u's repair centre will accept a phone whether or not it was bought from them, have you tried Googling Blackberry repairs?

you said the phone wasnt covered (warrenty) so how can you invalidate the warrenty when there isnt any.
Unfortunatley i had this with my daughters blackberry, CWH wouldnt touch it...i eventually took it to a local phone repair centre. I had no warrenty on it so wasnt bothered...it was fixed and shes happy.......oh by the way my daughter had had hers for only a couople of weeks too :-)

All new phones come with a manufacturers 12 month warranty however this does not cover accidental damage i.e cracked screens. Blackberrys are famed for having software faults (which are covered by the warranty) which is why i don't want to go to the local phone repair shop.

Having said this it would appear that my only real option is to get it repaired locally and as you said your daughter was happy with the phone...it's no good as it is.

    I will give phones 4 u a try tho, it's definately worth a shot.

    Thank you xx
