I'd love for these two posters to share info. A quick google search didn't reveal anything else, but may well do with further investigationOne important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

If just 'CRS Travellodge' is added to a Google search, there are many many cases where the same has happened.
How many walls amounting to the same £400 damage can there be?
Here the Telegraph helped out:

Hello
Can you let me know any updates please, as my daughter has just called me in a very upset state, to say that the very same thing has happened to her.
The letter received from CRS claims the wall was damaged at the TravelLodge she stayed at a couple of weeks ago, and that if £400 isn't received for the damages caused, then she will have to face court action.
My daughter states that nothing at all happened during her one night stay, and she didn't notice any damage from a previous occupant.
Where do we go from here?
Thanks in advance.
Do as the earlier contributors have said. Write a letter to the CRS (and send a copy to Travelodge head office).
Your daughter should state that no damage was caused during the visit and none seen from a previous guest. (give dates and location) and ask for proof. Ask why you have not received any previous complaint about the alleged event. Ask in which room she is supposed to have stayed. If they don't have the room number, what can they prove?0 -

Had a quick look at this link. i wonder whether there never was a smoking problem and Travelodge invented the story of a different room number because they knew about a CRS scam and did not want to admit it to the guest.0 -
I'd want a quicker response than writing, why not ring the hotel and speak to the manager, then ring the head office.
If its a CRS scam how did they get your name and address, very strange.0 -

Simple. Travelodge notice damage and give CRS the names of all the people that stayed there over the past week or whatever. CRS then send this template letter to all of them. I expect that some of them will pay. Easy money. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0 -
My daughter has just called TL, and was told that a photograph of the alleged damage was on file (a small hole in the wall)
She then asked for a copy of the photograph, and the lady she spoke to said "I will need to check with my Manager if I can do that" My daughter then lost her cool and blew her top, demanding the photo to be mailed to her.
She was then called back, to be told that the damage had been flagged 1st June and that she was not liable since her stay was on the 3rd.
Make of this what you will, but my daughter is hopping mad and swears she will never stay with them again (she stays with them nationwide regularly) She is going to make a full 'no holds barred' complaint also.
I have to say that I find the whole situation very worrying; I do not use TL's myself, but as I plan to holiday overseas soon, I will ask for my room to be visually inspected before I go in there, and as I leave. I will also take dated photos of the room before I leave as back up.All you need is love (and chocolate)0 -

I think that Watchdog should be informed of this operation....
How many people have coughed up £400 for a hole in the wall not caused by them, or had to pay £150 because they were told their room smelled of cigarette smoke after they had left? (everyone knows how cigarette smoke can linger for a very long time in a room, even if air freshener is used)All you need is love (and chocolate)0 -
It's very similar to the private parking scam. CRS approach people and say "we'll get your money back for you". Travelodge think it's worth a punt so supply the info. CRS then try and scam as many people out of money as possible.
Of course, that's just a theory. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0
