Taxi driver didn't turn up - advice?

If you tried to sue the taxi company you'd get them saying the driver doesn't work for them he's self employed, then if you tried to sue the driver he'd start saying you never booked the journey with him.
Not worth all the hassle. Don't use them again and tell everyone, perhaps even a letter to your local paper.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Just buy the neighbour a little gift to show appreciation and put it down to experience. As many have said, no chance of the taxi company charging them, or them being able to sue the company. If a letter of complaint will make your in-laws feel better then do so. If not, don't waste a stamp.

Happened to me once - a no show taxi from company I'd used a lot before to take me on holiday and no answer from their phone number. In the end I sat with the A to Z phoning loads of companies and panicking as they all just rang out. I live in a large town, but finding a taxi at that time of the morning took a good half hour.
Not worth them fretting and spoiling a holiday over though - as others have said, buy the neighbour a thank you prezzie and don't use that company again. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
This is why I always book a taxi to come early - the ones round here are notorious for not turning up on time.Save £200 a month : [STRIKE]Oct[/STRIKE] Nov Dec Jan Feb Mar Apr0

The contract is with the taxi company they booked it with, and not the driver so the taxi company is liable if they missed their holiday coach. Hadley v Baxendale [1854] EWHC J700 -
