    Thanks for the advice guys. I am a bit concerned that this is indeed the problem and I don't really want to change my bed!

    I am also a bit annoyed that it is not made clear that the mattress isn't suitable for use on a slatted base. Not only that but when I specifically asked the question the sales advisor told me it was fine to use it on a slatted base.

    You don't need to change the bed. You can do one of the following:

    1) add extra slatts to the base to close the gaps up to about 1"

    or

    2) if you can't add extra slatts, then buy a sheet of pegboard to lay on top of the slatts. This will help to spread the weight whilst still allowing the mattress to breath.
