Is my mattress faulty?

I bought a king size Sleepeezee Ortho Supreme mattress approximately 9 months ago and have it on a slatted wooden frame.
I have recently noticed that the mattress dips quite a bit in the centre as if it has worn unevenly. This is despite it being turned and flipped regularly as per the manufacturers advice.
I have the bed to myself and naturally tend to sleep towards the centre of it but not, in my opinion, enough to 'wear' a dip in the middle of it!
Is it faulty, or is this normal?
Thanks guys and gyals.

Do you know if the mattress is designed to be used on a slatted base?Thrifty Till 50 Then Spend Till the End
You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time but you can never please all of the people all of the time0 -
our bed did that after a year, on a non slatted base, i called the store we bought from, they insisted coming out to see it but when they did, agreed to a replacement.
only trouble was the bed was bought as a full thing base incl, they'd stopped making them and the store refused to give us a full new bed, and would only supply a matress so they don't match now.
i'd call the store as your first stopDon’t ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it.
Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.0 -
I think this is one of those 'you gets what you pays for' senarios.
But probably worth going back to where you bought it from even if it was just a cheap one0 -
Ms Chocaholic has a point. Having recently bought a wooden bedstead, my research suggests that certain mattresses are designed to go ONLY on to a solid divan base.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0

Hi, thanks for the info. Didn't know that only some mattresses could be used on slatted bases.
I can't find any information which tells me not to use it on a slatted base and it wasn't made clear to me at point of sale if this is the case. Any idea how I find out?
EDIT: I just called the Dreams sales line posing as a prospective purchaser - it can be used on any base.I think this is one of those 'you gets what you pays for' senarios.

Its a 1200 pocket sprung mattress that retails for around £600 - whilst not the Rolls Royce of mattress, it is by no means a cheap one.0 -
By way of an update, Dreams are sending out a company called Homeserve to assess the problem I have with the mattress.
Anyone come across them before?0 -

I think the problem of using matresses with slatted bases is mainly confined to pocket sprung mattresses. Your mattress is pocket sprung so unless there is specific mention that it can be used on a slatted base then the safe assumption is not to use it on a slatted base.
Maybe you need to contact sleepeze for clarification? If it transpires that the mattress should not be used on a slatted base then I think the company that sold the mattress to you were maybe negligent - particularly if you were relying on them for advice on which mattress to choose - rather than saying to them I have come to buy 'such and such mattress'.

Thanks for the advice guys. I am a bit concerned that this is indeed the problem and I don't really want to change my bed!
I am also a bit annoyed that it is not made clear that the mattress isn't suitable for use on a slatted base. Not only that but when I specifically asked the question the sales advisor told me it was fine to use it on a slatted base.0 -

They seem like a type of insurance company for emergency repairs and warenties covering all sorts of trades .When we had the gales a while back they contacted my son who is a tree surgeon and garderdening contractor to sort out a fallen tree for one of their customers at a property near by ..he did the job and they pay the bill .

Any verbal statement forms part of your contract with the seller. So if that was what you were told, then whatever is now said by the inspector about use on a slatted base is irrelevant. The problem would be proving you were told that, but you should stick to your guns as it is what happened. Don't approach the problem already assuming that you did the wrong thing!0
