Rhodes is one of the worst offedners and I don t imagine that the Euro crisis has helped in the 2 years since I was there. I knew when I booked a deal and was prepared for the 100E bill, but managed to find on the reps advice fans for rent. Cost us 10e . We were Self catering tho and I would nt have expected in an AI . The holiday companies are really forcing owners of accomodation to go to the lowevst possible price and i guess they need to make their money somewhere

They got to the hotel in Rhodes and it seemed that somehow easyJet hadn't notified and/or paid the hotel.

This would have been of more concern than the air conditioning

Call me cynical, but nothing surprises me when it comes to Greece and "fiddling", also Italy.
We are staying in Italy for a week in July, and many of the hotels provide parking - and then charge you for it! - - - - up to 30 Euros per day!!!!
Why is the city tax in Italy, typically four or five times what it is in France?

Not my experience - as David said above, most non-package hotels don't charge extra for a/c (and very few outside 'resortland' offer or need safes). Most non-packages get more than the pittance offered by the tour companies so they don't have to pile on the 'extras'.

Thanks!!! I'm off to a wedding there in Sept and need transport. I'm really hating the idea of hiring a car. This has been worrying me for months. I want to get the train from Genoa to Rapallo and taxi from there to hotel but wife thinks we must have a car, yet does not drive!

The biggest problem with taking the train in Italy is that they are usually on strike.
