They'll find some sort of exclusion clause!
That happend with me some years ago, i bought an exhaust with a 'lifetime' guarantee. When it went i never told them i had a guarantee when they asked did i want a full system i just said only if it's necessary, if you think part will do just do that. After he fitted a complete exhaust and wrote the bill i said it's Ok it's guaranteed. The guy went mad saying i'd conned him, i thought he was going to keep me prisoner until i paid, he told me never to go there again.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

If they're not badly worn or warped then, if anything, pitting will give you better brakes once they bed in cos the pads have more to bite into
How long would you expect rear discs to last on a family saloon used mainly mixed out of town use.
60/70K miles?

Lol, I love that. He tried to con you on the full system but you pulled the ace out of your sleeve. Great stuff! As surely as night follows day capitalism will come crumbling down. On a mission to secure a just and ethical society.0 -

Obviously because they would have needed to inspect the exhaust to verify it's not damaged as a result of misuse or something or just wear and tear.
Bit of a shoddy way of doing things0 -

That's not the way I'm reading it. A section would have sufficed but they tried to rip him off for the full length not knowing he had a lifetime guarantee. If he had produced the guarantee probably a piece would have fitted not the whole length. As surely as night follows day capitalism will come crumbling down. I agree that's the way I read it but if they simply replaced a piecet and then what would happen if another piece failed under the lifetime warranty?"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

It's almost impossible to say because of the number of things that can affect their life. I've had cars at well over 150k miles still on original disks all round, a lot of moderns seem to struggle to get 50k on a set.
Part of that is down to the pad materials - soft pads wear out faster but don't hurt the disks. Part is down to driving style, part to how often the cars used (sitting round will cause surface rust which will scrub off quickly, wearing the disks), part down to road conditions (loose dusty surfaces will tend to get abrasive particles ibto the brakes) and so on.
It also seems like a lot of manufacturers are now making disks out of cheesealloy - if you can get the punter used to the fact that they need changing every time the pads are done then why make them to last?
Ultimately, it comes down to inspecting and changing when there's significant wear or they've warped. Scoring and pitting arent normally a problem (unless the scoring is very deep), warping will generally show up as vibration under braking (more obvious on fronts than rears), what matters is how much the disk has been thinned
The easiest way to judge that is comparing the (usually unworn) outer edge or centre of the disk to the bit the pads rub on. If there's a significant step (as a very rough guide maybe 1/4 of the disk thickenss adding the wear on back and front faces for solid disks, less for vented) between the two then they're due changing.0 -
Nah, don't bother to repair your motor so that it can actually stop in the shortest possible distance and just rely on my rear bumper to slow you down when you press your pedal to the metal and next to !!!!!! all happens.
Seriously, what is it with people and penny pinching over safety issues ?0 -

Do you change your rear disks every 12 months then?0 -

A slightly pitted disc will brake a wheel just the same as a new one.0
