Hi guys,
I have built several sites and hosted them through 123-reg but find the email to be a bit on the flakey side so I am wondering if anyone has experience with others and would recommend. I will be setting up a fairly simple site so doesnt need a huge amount of space. It will be php so needs to have server side support (I know 123-reg dont support this on their base package). That is pretty much it for now... it will be info only at present with online shop being some considerable distance down the line.
Many thanks
Adam

We use a company called CS New Media which are very good. They are aimed at the business market and so their prices arent the cheapest but their service is great and heard almost no complaints about them0

vidahost are fantastic, I'm transferring all my websites to them, their average response time is less than 10mins 24/7 (and tested them myself, I have a tendency of fiddling with my websites at weekends and in the middle of the night....).
Looking at the packages, they state 'server side' is included, although I've not used that myself, but whatever you need they will help you find a solution.
They also support magento if you need that later.
However regardless of the company you use I definitely recommend making sure they have c-panel, which is one of the reasons I'm moving my sites, the other company don't have it and it makes a huge difference (and it's a transferable skill, if you decide to move your sites you don't have to familiarise yourself with another bespoke system).0 -
check out medialayer (expensive but very good).
i wouldn't recommend vidahost personally.0 -

as I didn't get an answer I assume it's safe to use vidahost then...0 -
I've been using www.1and1.co.uk for over 13 years now and their new unlimited packages (starts at around £6.99 a month) cater for everything I've seen (PHP, .asp etc).
Can't see myself moving anywhere else (and I've tried my fair share of other hosts over the years).0 -
Some hosts I use/used
Hostdime
Zigzaghosting
Hostgator
You will get alot of host bashing from ppl ect just pick one you like and meets your needs most of them offer a money back 14 days 30 days ect so you can always try them out and request a refund just make sure to read the small print :P

I have recently been looking at onequidhosting as they offer a eCommerce package for £6 per month, however l have decided against it as they were not willing to provide links of customers sites they have using their package so l could see what the online shop layout were like.
I always ask to see such things before purchasing0 -

Have only ever heard bad things about 1&1 - have experienced extremely poor customer service myself.
I personally use Coreix but then I have a number of sites as part of my business - so I need fast site speed and technical response times.0
