keeping clothes for "when I get slim again"

I can't be the only one who does this?
My wardrobe is pretty full and half are clothes I currently wear, and half are clothes that looked fab on me 8 years ago when I was about a stone and a half lighter. Whenever I go through them I think "I'm going to look so good in that when I lose a bit of weight" but I never seem to do it.....
I don't follow current fashions, more vintage 50's style, so they don't really go out of date in my mind! I don't really have anywhere else in the house I could store them either
Do you keep clothes to "slim into" or are you strict about throwing them out?

Since becoming a bit more sedentary due to a combination of lifestyle changes about six years ago, I have expanded to a size 14/16. My wardrobe still contains all my size 10 clothes, including an entire shelf of neatly folded size 10 jeans right at the top, as well as the size 12s that I acquired on the way from there to here.

If they are clothes that don't date and you have the room then keep them, I do and then dig stuff out that you haven't worn in ages, remember you can customise stuff too and change its use or size, its like having a new wardrobe for free,:) Cant be dealing with a capsule wardrobe, so dry and boring;)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

I think all women do this. I've got size 16s that I won't part with, in case I put the weight back on agaiin. It's funny how weight gain can creep up on you if you're not actively managing your diet and exercising. Take a glance at this article - apparently many of us have "four-drobes"!.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I started low carbing two years ago and I'm now my lowest weight since 1996, without counting a single calorie or living in the gym
I have a collection of vintage Laura Ashley dresses some of which weren't mine in the first place and I'm not intending to wear them. Also kept my wedding dress but again, have no intention of wearing it.
I must be the odd one out because I don't have clothes to wear in case I get fat  I won't because I've totally changed my way of eating. Nor do I have clothes in a smaller size because I buy clothes when I need to ie my trousers are practically sliding off my hips.
I've lost four inches off my waist since December and just been out and bought more linen trousers for the summer0 -

"According to the survey, the most common dress size for women aged 18 to 29 is size 10, a size 12 for women in their 30s, size 16 for women in their 40s, size 12-14 for women in their 50s and size 14 in their 60s onwards."
Wow, i'm following that pattern so far :eek:0 -
this time last year my wardrobe was full of size 20 / 24s, all of which fitted me at that time,
i had a few 16s that i vowed i would slim back into,
i started slimming world on 4th July 2011,
11 months on have now bypassed the 16s and im into 12s for the first time in YEARS :j
not very :money:tho, i have had to buy lots of new stuff,0 -
I can't speak for anyone else, but I definitely do this! It got a bit out of hand a year or two ago and I ended up putting the too small clothes in vac bags, labelled with sizes, in the attic:)
I've lost about 3 stone in the last 9 months, so it was great to gradually bring down the bags and get a whole new wardrobe! I have kept a small number of the bigger clothes, but this is only in case I have another baby and need slightly bigger clothes before/after baby.
However I've found that as my size and shape changes, some of the old clothes that I used to love either don't fit and I just don't like any more...:o0 -

OO gives me hope, Im thinking about starting low carbing, though it does seem a bit restrictive and confusing atm, need to read up more on it, as I HATE the gym, and Ive never calorie counted before!
Almost all of my wardrobe in now too small for me as Ive put on 10 kg in the last yearI was size 8, and crept up to size 12 now..
I have grudgingly bought some new clothes but I refuse to throw out my old stuff as I'm determined to lose it (new married weight I call it)
If you are certain you're not going to lose the weight though dont throw it all out, you could probably let the sewing out on some dresses (as Ive discovered) or if you have a sewing machine do some modifications to make it bigger (if its worth it)
I think this habit of keeping clothes is worse if you're a hoarder by nature as well <- ME :rotfl:We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.
