Asda - "keep refrigerated" items, not refrigerated

This isn't a major thing, I'm not after 1 million pounds compensation or anything like that. The other day I purchased a few things that were in the short dated (non refrigerated) section of ASDA, figured I'd eat it when I got home. I got home and basically it smelt vile, the salad had an alcohol aroma to it. I didn't bother with the chicken salad which I also purchased (stupidly not thinking).

Decided to check this morning as I was passing on my way, they had loads of things on sale as they were use by today. A lot of the things were labelled "Keep Refrigerated" on the package, and were quite cold, obviously recently taken out of that section to be sold. I checked in again on my way home, those same products were still there - including chicken salad and prawn salad. Is it safe to leave this sort of product out of the fridge for so long (talking 8 hours or so)? I had a touch of the packaging, it was warm - bacterial paradise I imagine.

Like I said I'm not after a million pounds, not even going to get a refund, can't be bothered for something like 30p, though wonder if I should raise it with the store concerned or not.

so why did you purchase them just to moan about it.

then to post it on a consumer section of a forum.

call enviromental health, this is clearly a health and saftey issue. if raw meat is left out warm upto room tempreture then bacteria will grow and can potentially make someone very ill.
Chicken and prawn is a meat that I am talking about.

This should definitely be raised with the store concerned. You should e-mail the store, and copy in customer services so that they can check that it is not occurring in other stores.
It's definitely not right that these items are out for hours.
When I worked for Sainsbury's, we had a 20 minute policy for anything frozen or refrigerated. If it had been out of the fridge or freezer for longer than 20 minutes, it was scrapped. It was also scrapped if there was any uncertainty about the length of time it had been out of the cold for.

I agree with the others that say raise it with the store and customer services.

TBh it would put me off shoping there if they can't even follow basic things like keeping chicken and prawns refridgerated. It would make me wonder what went on behind the scenes that wasn't seen.

If you actually read the opening post, the OP clearly stated that they purchased the items in question to eat at home and that they only noticed later that the items were "keep refigerated".

Someone might just as easily ask why you bother posting on the consumer rights section of this forum as you never seem to post anything remotely useful.
Your sole purpose always appears to be an attempt to insult other people.

It's not really pathetic, just sad.

ASDA seem to be of the worst for these sort of things in my experience(as a customer and employee previously) There's been several times where I've nipped to my local one and walked round roll cages of chilled stock then nipped back an hour or so later and the roll cage was still there. Once they had a reduced pallet of cream just dumped in the middle of a chilled aisle. The chilled bagged veg does seem to end up where people can see it on a fruit/leg promo end rather than back where it goes in the chillers. They do have a challenge 20 rule on chilled stock but it's hardly ever followed to the letter.

Maybe not Asda's fault in fairness. You usually find customers pick up reduced items from the fridge then browse the reduced on another shelf and put the fridged items back on the normal shelf.

    Happens quite a bit.

I suspect what the OP is talking about is a supermarket leaving a cage of chilled food in the aisle without shelving it appropriately. It never reaches the point where it is available to customers. It not only endangers the safety of the food but the obstacle causes a fire hazard.

You could be right, I read it as the OP had purchased Short Dated so from the reduced section. My local stores have a reduced section in the chiller and one on a shelf for dry goods.
    Hopefully OP can clarify?
