I would sell his PS3 and games to recoup some of the money and deduct the rest from pocket money, or increase chores. It's very sad he would do this, he must understand this is theft (or fraud or whatever)0

i also would be supervising him on a computer from now on,
he hopefully will learn a lesson as you say you are punishing him.0 -
Unlike the other posters, I do think that there is at least a chance that Sony would cancel his access to the games and refund your money. I would certainly spend some time contacting them and asking them to do this.
As for getting your money back from the bank, the same rules apply as if this was any other case of fraud. If you acted negligently in leaving your card details in an accessible place or saving them to an on-line account, then you are stuffed, but if he found some ingenious way to steal them then there is a chance of the transactions being cancelled.
The law cannot really do anything to a child so young, but I certainly think that a visit to a police station and a chat with an officer would be a very good idea.0 -
Where were the confirmation emails for these purchases going?
Changing the email address on his PS account to your email would give you an idea of what he was up to. Better late than never!0 -
I'd give Sony a ring. Since they're digital games, I would be surprised if they will refund them (seems the way it's going nowadays - I buy quite a few digital PC games through Steam and all purchases are 'final' and 'nonrefundable'). Could be worth a shot though - perhaps mention the bank considers the purchases to be fraud?
And yep, I'd also sell the PS3.0 -
i would smash the playstation in front of him
that would get the message through for the rest of his life0 -

Zagfles as right, as it is deemed as a 'credit token' you will probably get refunded less £50 if not from Sony then from the FOS.I have worked at HSBC Bank in various departments both customer facing and process-related for six years. However, any advice given is my own.0

As a number of people have suggested your first port of call is to contact Sony and explain that the games were purchased by a 10-year-old who did not have your authority to use the card. I would be very surprised if they did not provide a full refund.
In the unlikely event that they don't, then you need to ask them what steps they took to verify the purchases were being made by the card holder rather than someone who had just had possession of your card long enough to have noted down the Number, Name, Expiry, and CCV.Optimists see a glass half full

if your sons friend has purchased games from your account see his mum too and ask for the cash back at this age they know what stealing is.
what you do with the playstation is upto you, but i very much doubt youll get close to £500 for it be lucky to get £160.
youll get nothing from the bank and nothing from sony either.0
