I work in IT, and many people change companies every few years. I find linked in useful for keeping in touch with people who I would otherwise lose touch with completely.

I use facebook for friends/family and linkedin for work.

Just an update, in case you didn't know.

- LinkedIn have confirmed security breach.
- They'll be notifying everyone affected by email
- Make sure you change your password now
- LinkedIn confirm they didn't "salt" their passwords (the proper way of encrypting passwords) but they have now
- You can check to see if your password was stolen using a free tool (I checked and mine was stolen)

You can find out by checking the LeakedIn website. I'd recommend changing your LinkedIn password first before checking with LeakedIn though! I checked, and my password was one of the 6.43 million passwords stolen. You can find out more at the bottom of this article.
