    "fn" + "prn sc" starts the screen capture software and grabs an image of the whole screen then open a dialogue box for you to rename and save.

    Maybe Xorg has been set to do that or your Desktop Manager has been configured to use that keyboard shortcut... It won't be Linux itself handling it (Linux is pretty much just the kernel)...

    Ubuntu 11.04 does the whole thing for you with a single push of the PS key. It even names the file if don't want to.
