Press [Prt Scr] on your keyboard, run your image editor of choice and paste. Alternatively, use the Snipping Tool if available.0

Windows 7 or Vista, you can use the Snipping Tool. XP, Press the Print Screen key, open Paint and click on Edit and then Paste. Then Save As0
-
If you want to only capture the active window, use Alt + Prt Scr together, then paste into your chosen image editor.

How to Take a Screenshot in Linux With the PrintScreen Button
You can also take a screenshot of the entire screen by pushing the "Print Screen" (PrtSc) button on your keyboard. To get a screenshot of only the active window, use Alt-PrtSc.

Doesn't work here...
I don't think it's possible that there's a standard way to take a screenshot in Linux since everything is customisable. I use a package called xfce4-screenshooter...0 -
With Linux, On my laptop at least..
"fn" + "prn sc" starts the screen capture software and grabs an image of the whole screen then open a dialogue box for you to rename and save.Laters
