It's probably the edb file - you must have "Hide extensions for known file types" turned on. Turn it off just to be sure

It will be the file called edb, although confirm as described above.
The likely cause of your issue is the edb file is corrupted. This theory is confirmed by the presence of the edb.chk file which is a recovered file fragment.
Once you've checked and renamed the edb.log file and Windows update is working a new edb.log file will be created. You can then safely delete edb.old and edb.chkHow do I add a signature?0
