I don't know the details but I'd expect a closer investigation would reveal that the fees are the same but Scottish residents have their fees paid for them by some government authority (I'm just speculating here). This would be paid independent of nationality, i.e. if an English person lived in Scotland their fees would be paid/they would receive a grant to cover the fees while a Scottish national resident in England would not receive the same.

Charlotte - I was guilty of assuming that you were going to Bournemouth uni. I still think that the SU would offer advice if you gave them a call and said that you were hoping to come to Bournemouth to study however you probably wouldn't get the same support as a student of the university.

Final thought is that if you're from the area originally have you anybody that you could stay with for a few days while you get yourself sorted out?

My friend has just suggested to me 'DaveWells . net'. Does anyone think these kind of places are more suitable?

@Clearlier, unfortunately my family are more from the London/Middlesex area, so I couldn't stay with them, and the majority of my friends are at non-local unis, or live in small places with their partners.

No, basically. If you work you can get housing support but the LHA for a under 35 year old single person in Bournemouth is £67.83. if you rent anything costing more than this, you will have to fund the additional cost yourself. You can also study part-time.

Thanks everyone. Decided to NOT go with DaveWells as after a bit of research, it turns out they were on 'Landlords From Hell' on Channel 4 :rotfl:
