The OP does not say at what level she would be studying, whether she actually has a place confirmed, whether it would be FT or PT etc?
Student Loans not applicable to all courses
OP says course is at "college"; if this is the case HoR would not be offered via Bournemouth Uni0 -
@Tallgirl, yes I drive but with the prices of petrol these days, going to Bournemouth from Hampshire half the week would add up somewhat!
@RAS, That's what I initially thought but I just had a look on the directgov website and they seem to have loans for college students too as I just did a quote kinda thing. Also what is CSV?
@tbs264, sorry I should have mentioned that. It is a full time (3 days a week) Extended Diploma/BTEC/Level 3 course.0 -

OP - have you actually applied to the college yet and checked whether you would now ( after 3+ years in France) be classed as an international student Fees will be over double what fees for "home"students are so it needs to be clarified
You say that your father will give you 300 quid "if he can find it", which doesn't sound that secure a source of financial help.
As others have suggested you may be better deferring going to college until 2013 and initially focusing on somewhere to live and a job. Have you looked at the Open Uni by the way?
Unfortunately, Bmth & Poole are expensive for accommodation so you may have to lower your sights a little. Have a look at Spare Room .co. uk to get an idea of what is available in shared properties.0 -
Depends on level of course, whether classed as higher or further education - some colleges offer HNDs, foundation degrees etc which would attract funding
True - but one would not be accessing them having only done GCSEs - OP left during year 1 of post-16 study. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -

IIRC international students are outside of the EU. AFAIK universities are required to treat all EU residents in the same manner or at least as equally as possible. I'm pretty sure that they are not permitted to charge EU residents any more than UK residents.0 -
@tbs364 Yes, I have tripled check with the college, and it is fine, and I don't class as an international.
I probably phrased the £300 bit wrong. He is able to send that to me to live off of, whilst I am looking for a job.
I haven't looked at Open Uni yet, but I am currently on their site.
And ty, I shall look at SpareRoom to see what they have.0 -
Although Scotland, bless em, charge English students more than those from the EU........IIRC international students are outside of the EU. There are some students who do manage to make their way on to some higher ed courses without completing full AS/A2 and OP had not said one way or another whether she had undertaken any form of study /relevant experience whilst abroad.True - but one would not be accessing them having only done GCSEs - OP left during year 1 of post-16 study.
Your original comment to which I responded was
"You are correct, loans only apply to University students not to college students."
The point was that its not whether a place of study is a college or a Uni which determines whether or not Student Loan fiunding is available - it's ( among other things) whether or not the student is applying for FE or HE.:)0 -
No I have not done any form of studying over here. So basically I have no way of getting any form of student loan for a Level 3 course?0
