their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'

No they are able to replace, repair or refund, depending on what they want to do.
However, you do not need to chase up another stores stock. They need to source a replacement for you. Tell them to do thus or you expect a refund, although they are not going to refund the entire tablet, just the power connector.
You aren't able to ask for refunds because you can find it cheaper 6 months later.0 -
The tablet itself is broke all i wanted from them is to send it away to get fixed they will not do that. So i am within my rights to get cash refund not credit note what i ment by £30 cheaper if had accepted the credit note i would have picked the one on there website but had look on net currys selling same one cheaper0

Bottom line ... if it is less than 6 months from date of purchase then any fault is assumed to be inherent (present at the time of purchase) and the retailer must prove otherwise (if they wish to).
If the fault is accepted then the retailer must offer a remedy - any of repair, replace or refund, and technically the refund can be partial to account for the use you have had (although before 6 months I'd expect any refund to be in full). Whilst you can request a particular remedy, the retailer does not have to accept that course if it is disproportionately expensive.
Bottom line ... it is for the retailer to do the leg-work in offering the remedy, not the consumer. But you can't demand a refund, only request - and the retailer does not have to agree. If a refund is offered they cannot insist on a credit note if you have the proof of purchase (e.g. receipt) - the refund is normally made in the same manner as the purchase. (e.g. if paid by card then the refund goes back to the same card. If by cash then the refund should be cash).0 -
Hi
Was it Archos by any chance. I bought one from HMV 2 weeks ago, the power connection broke after a day...returned it and got another one, just the other day the exact same thing has happened. I have had enough and basically want a refund to go elsewhere...I assume this is not going to happen . if it is the same tablet then maybe worthwhile us complaining to the company as could be a manufacturer default.Baby Numner 4 due 7th May 2016 :dance:0 -
OP, you haven't said, but do you have a receipt or any other proof of purchase?
Without this, I believe they are being quite reasonable offering a credit note.0
