Hi i have a firefox 5 multifuel stove which i burn seasoned wood and smokless coal/house coal on.
I have a friend at work who has gone onto mains gas and has 16x20kg bags of anthracite grains he wants to get rid of for £20 saying he's sick to death of seeing them in the garden. I have looked on coal suppliers web sites and they say the grains are for gravity fed boilers? can i still use it in my stove as this is real moneysaving if i can
) i dont mind mixing it with some smokeless or housecoal to get it going but if its no good then i may as well leave it.

well we burn logs so we get the fire going then put on some anthracite if we are going out or we are going to bed then once its glowing we turn it down ,when we return we top up with logs and open the vents up and you get the fire going very quickly .
at the price your being offered it i would buy it ....0 -
It will definately burn, it is an absolute pig to get going though, so get a good hot wood fire going first. Anthracite burns with a milky yellow/blue flame at first then just glows red hot and can burn unattended for up to 18 hours in some appliances, it will need a good draught though at first before you close the stove down. The anthracite beans/grains you are bing offered are designed for gravity feed boilers like Trianco, and they are about the size of a peti pois pea, so in most stoves the grate spaces are larger than this and the fuel would most probably all fall through into the ashpan, so not ideal. Anthracite nuts, about the size of a just brazil chocolate are better suited.
CC limits £26000

Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.0
