Ps - as for getting back at people, don't bother. Rise well above it. Leave it to karma ;-)

If they are the kind of people who will raise a vendetta and create drama, their lives will be full of drama and spite anyway. Nothing you can say or do will be worse than them wasting their lives on petty nastiness, and I suggest you don't either. Be the grown-up, and sigh as you walk away head up not having descended to their level.

Pride often comes before a fall. Sometimes you have to play the game. Life is not fair, I hope all works out for you but I think what you have done sounds wrong unless I read it wrong. A bit more building bridges and less showing off might help you in the longrun nobody likes a smartass.

For anyone who can't be bothered to make it through whole story here are the key elements.

OP is apparently great at selling stuff but....

A few days after that, one of my friends came into the store with an iPhone she wanted to get rid off. I told her I'd buy it off her and pay her £100 then and there, and the other half a month later. She was more than happy with the deal and I took the phone off her. Later, I told everyone what I did and thought nothing more of it. Just to spite her (the full timer, not the manager) even further, I even took out a new connection and handed in the phone I had taken off my friend as a part trade in against the contract. I was making a loss in the long run yes, but her discomfort made it worth it. Little did i know that was to be my downfall.

    [snip]

I've decided to not work here any longer. I only reason I still haven't quit is because they are holding my bonus and all the sales incentives, which amounts to a tidy sum.

But I really want to get back at her somehow and make her pay. She and her best friend shouldn't be allowed to get away with this. I know I was wronged and quite a few people, including the asst. managers feel the same.

    What should I do ?

So you've come on here - not for advice on how to keep your job - but for advice on how to "get back" at a colleague???

Thanks a lot for your comments and suggestions. Some really helpful, some, well not so much. I really appreciate them either way.

Anyway, here's what happened at the conduct hearing:

The union rep was there. I put down all my arguments. There is NO company policy on buying phones from friends etc. (I had a sworn statement from my friend anyway stating she had no intention of dealing with the company and had come in only to meet me). The whole case against me got thrown out on this basis. Not even a written warning. But they did advise that the next time, I should transact outside the store and then come back in. For folks asking me to be really sorry, I have a question - Why ? I did not do anything wrong, and that was proven.

Second thing - The girl has been suspended without pay and will most likely be dismissed. The manager was very harshly warned by her line manager in front of almost everyone.

For those calling me spiteful etc. - Try stepping into my shoes and you'll see what I mean. The relationship between my asst. manager and me is built on working towards the same goals and being highly performance oriented. The relationship between this girl and my manager was built on being slackers, sharing cig. breaks and constantly moaning about everything around them.

So if some of you want to take the high road and do good to everyone around you, even those who try and pull you down all the time, I salute you. I am not built like that. And folks who are bad with me will get it back in equal measure. This is a temp job anyway till I graduate, but it has taught me an important lesson. Never back down if you're right or wronged. I might not win all of them, but atleast I'll sleep peacefully knowing I gave it my all.

Please consider this thread closed. Thanks and have a good night.

Are we to understand that you went to your own disciplinary but spent the time carrying out your own vendetta which will probably result in someone else getting sacked?
You also say that the store manager was effectively disciplined in front of all staff?
Wow! What a company to work for!
I hope you will get to understand what it is to be a team member at some point, and what an important skill it is to be able to work with other people but I fear that will never happen with you. Instead I think you will spend your life just blaming other people for your own problems.

Try growing up? It's not a vendetta, you work in a competitive environment. Maybe your asst manager is just keeping you sweet 'cos you make him look good and he gains commission from your sales.

Don't you know that you have no employment rights unless it's discrimination. Your lucky that your manager is not as vindictive or arrogant as you. Maybe she can't wait to see your face when she tells you you're fired.

You have a lot to learn about self awareness, there's nothing wrong in fighting your corner, but unless you choose your battles you will find it a lonely place.

Do I detect the odour of !!!!!!!!?

The "girl" was suspended without pay? So, just to be clear, she has been illegally suspended without pay on the OP's say so, and the employer hared this information with a part-time employee? Did they also share the likely outcome of her as yet unheard disciplinary too? And the managers line manager, quite appallingly, disciplined her in front of the entire staff giving her excellent grounds for a tribunal claim?

You are still spiteful, have no idea how to work with others and I am confident that if you haven't already been sacked (because your version of events here seems somewhat incredible) you soon will be. Perhaps when the deputy manager, having successfully manipulated you into firing his arrows, has assumed the role of store manager and no longer needs you? Because once he has what he wants, you become a liability.

Have you thought about trying to get on The Apprentice?

Or have you been on already?

You have done something wrong. You carried out a personal deal on works premises, during working time.
When you are working, you should not be carrying out personal deals.
