I know that which is one reason why I have not offered an opinion. So what is your point SVP?

    Cheers

The point i was trying to make was, the Op appeared less than happy with your first post and then I didn't think you added anything to the thread by pooh poohing my suggestion of an airlock.
When there's a banging that you think is coming from a boiler it might not be.

  • Well, the banging was from inside the box, not the pipes.

The banging then stopped and now there is no hot water, only error codes 33 and sometimes 34.

It was definitely the air pressure switch that he replaced. He was due to come again this morning, but has delayed until this evening so I suppose we'll see.

K1rst1e, thanks for letting me know your experience. It might turn into a long haul then!

33 & 34 relate to a faulty APS, but I cannot see how that will be related to banging.

Well you intrduced the question of an airlock before the OP responded to me so that statement is rather back to front. Now I would agree that it would be unusual NOT to get an airlock when draining and refilling an open vented system and airlocks can develop in normal operation.and that could very easily lead to banging in the pipework in and around the boiler if it ain't filled with water when you think it is. However, I struggle to understand how you can possibly get an airlock in the pipes on a pressurised CH and mains pressure DHW system which is what the OP has. That was my point to you. It would be interesting to hear about such an event if you have one to relate.

The subsequent post by the OP expressing some disgruntlement with my initial response was due to OP misunderstanding my post and which we have subsequently ironed out as you have no doubt read.

    Quite.
