    Is this possible?

I have a punto with insurance that runs out in september with 7 yrs NCD which should be 8 years on completion.

Just bought a corsa with 1 years free insurance with 0 years NCD attached as silly to cancel above policy with 2 months to pay.

I plan to sell the punto In september and take the 8 years NCD leaving me with the 1 insurance with 0 yrs attached. When this ends in june can i re-new with whoever is the lowest premium using the 8 yrs NCD from the punto?

    Yes you can.

The suggestion to buy a car, insure it and then scrap it is also suspect. By scrapping the car you are relinquishing ownership of it so again you have the situation where you have a policy on a car you are no longer in possession of.

    And what?

No chance of a claim if you take it to a scrap yard and fill in the end of life form. As long as you don't use the insurance and put in a claim whilst driving another car say, there is no way of the insurance company would pick it up.

You only need do this once in every 24 months to keep the NCD valid. You could take out the policy, let it run for 1 month, which will give you enough time to buy a lemon for £200, maybe take the tax off, sell any bits that are worth anything and take it to the scrapers. Once you cancel it make sure you get the proof of NCD with the cancellation date and your set for another 23 months!
