I left the boost on my boiler and now I owe npower £500

I accidentally left the boost on boiler for about 3 months!! and now I owe npower £500, as this is clearly my fault they are obviously saying they can't do anything about it other than to let me pay it back over a period of time. This leaves me paying double what I was previously paying. Is there anything I can do to get this debt reduced, it will cause financial hardship but as I'm not on benefits they say I don't qualify for any help...

Sorry, I would think you probably already know what the answer is.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
What does the boost on the boiler actually do? It's unlikely to contribute a an extra £500 on your bill. Maybe an extra couple of pounds a week but very unlikely to be very much.:footie:

Depends on how high he has set it, how many radiators twin etc. Op if its been used it has to be paid for, ask for a 12 month payment planDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

They will get charged for that energy use by the distributor hence they will want you to pay.
Spread it out and check that is the real reason though.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0 -
Most boost buttons only boost for 1 or 2 hours then switch off.
Over ride or advance buttons only stay on until the next 'off' time.
I can only think that you set the timer to manual.0 -
Presumably the OP has one of those wasteful combi boilers which have a pre heat function to speed up the hot water response time..?Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

The pre heat function won't make a huge difference. It's usually just a few litres that are heated and kept hot. 120 litres of my water is kept hot in an insulated storage cylinder for 24 hours consuming 4kWh of electricity per day when no water is drawn off. I doubt a gas boiler would use much more than that heating around 10 litres and keeping it hot. I read somewhere it costs around £1 a week for the pre-heat function.C_Mababejive wrote: »Presumably the OP has one of those wasteful combi boilers which have a pre heat function to speed up the hot water response time..?:footie:

We are making(understandably) the assumption that the OP is talking about a gas boiler.
The OP doesn't say it is gas.
Some people refer to their hot water tank as the 'boiler'. Could it be that the OP means the boost button for the immersion heater. On some systems with E7/E10 there is the facility to heat more water during the day on daytime rates instead of off-peak.0 -
boost would be electric anyway.Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Plus other metering such as Heatwise, Warmwise, 3 rate E10, Redring boiler meter, etc which all have a 3rd rate for heat only, some even a 4th rate.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
