Ideas for filling in this gap please

Presently my postman uses this gap to get to my house when he has delivered to my neighbours house and cant be bothered to walk back up his path and down mine which annoys me as he has to walk right in front of my living room window. Presently theres a honeysuckle growing up the trellis and hubby has just left it to hang over which looks a bit silly really and i suggested growing something in a container (i'd rather not plant directly into the ground).

Has anyone any idea what i can do with it to block it up a little or make it less inviting to use it as a short cut?

I had the same problem. I asked the postman nicely not to use the shortcut and I also put a large planted pot in the gap.

I dont have the same postman so its a waste of breath asking him not to use it as it would probably be a different postman next week.

I think i remember my Dad growing lupins there but i dont like lupins and not sure if i can grow them in a pot.

You could get a trellis planter like this they also do a bigger size if your gap is wider. Then a nice climbing rose and maybe a few plant to cascade over the sides.

Large plant pot with a nice rose bush in it... or even built a trellis

or you could just put a gate there and keep it locked except when you want to use it.

I like the idea of the landmine... as long as it doesnt damage my property. ;) People who shove flyers through the door use it as a short cut too as well as deliverers of free newspapers/charity bags and other such cr*p. Blow the lot into oblivion! :D

Which would be never. Our paths rarely cross, despite being neighbours for about 40 years we are not that close.

Love the idea of the rose bush/climber but that spot is fairly sheltered by conifer trees. I doubt if there would be enough light (mind you the honeysuckle doesnt seem to mind). Incidently i gave the honeysuckle a good pruning last year hoping it would flower further down and bush out... but it didnt.:(

Haha! Thought about a thorn bush but its not very decorative is it? Dug up a holly bush last week that had self set.... shame it was in the wrong part of the garden or i might have been tempted to have left it.:rotfl:
