Twice I have rang the above company after I had seen vehicles I liked on their website and twice they have told me someone will ring me back but don't. If they don't want my business then fine, but just say so. Don't take my contact details and then not use them. Now I wouldn't buy a car of them if they were the last person on earth as if this is an indication of how they treat potential customers then their aftersales must be lousy.

I see a new name has not changed anything then.0

I had a bad experience with them recently. Wandered into their forecourt looking for a Ford Focus, but they only had a 1 year one on display which was out of my budget.
Man said he would take some details and see what he could find. Emphasised it must be a 5 door Focus, as I'm heavily pregnant and that was the main reason for selling my 3 door car as I would struggle putting a baby seat in. Also told him some other requirements and said I didn't want a silver Focus, as there are thousands of them on the road and my friend loses hers in car parks!
He tapped away into his computer and said he had found the perfect Focus for me, so he would go and value my old car. He came back with all these faults that were not true, and said my old car was only worth £500. That was a blow as Glasses said it was worth £1600 trade in.
Man said the Focus he had found was in another branch, but he wouldn't tell me where. He said I would have to pay £100 to inspect the Focus, which would be taken off the balance when I bought it. If I didn't like the car, I would lose the £100. Hubby happened to read his screen and noticed the car in question was a 3 door silver Focus, and pointed this out. Man didn't understand what the problem was, so he obviously hadn't listened to what I wanted.
He searched again, but the cars just had very basic details about them and no pictures. Again if I wanted to view them, I would have to pay £100 each to see them.
Told him to stick it and walked out. There's no way I'm paying £100 to inspect something before I decide if I want to buy it or not.
Ended up buying a Focus from a lovely man in a local independant garage. I was able to view it and test drive it before making a decision, and I negotiated £1500 for my old car which I was pleased with.
I would never go to Evans Halshaw again. Here I go again on my own....0 -
Well I lied, someone rang me today. He was from one of their branches and he told me he didn't have a clue about the vehicle I had enquired about but tried to sell me a brand new Fiesta at 8k that he was making a £300 loss on (it's so nice to know there are businesses out there that will run at a loss to make you happy:rolleyes:). This car was identical to the one advertised on their website for £6473 so he said the price was wrong. Well it's been wrong for a quite a few weeks then.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)0

OP,
My g/f is looking to buy a brand new fiesta and has rang Evans Halshaw up today after seeing their ad in the paper "we will beat any deal, don't believe us, ring us and see"....
She has had to ring them 4 times and each time they promised to ring her back and not once have they!
Bloody idiots... as you say, if they don't want the custom fair enough, but it makes you wonder why anyone would spend thousands on full page colour ads in papers to attract customers and then not bother with them....
BTW, what was their old name before Evans Halshaw?

Their old name was Reg Vardy0 -
I must be honest, I have had no problems with Evans Halshaw at Citroen/Kia in Cardiff - when I got my car the salesman even hand delivered my tax disc to my house for me because their clerk had gone shopping instead of taxing cars. All in all, for me, they have been geat (but then I was previously a custoemr of Renault Cardiff so anything would be an improvement!)0

I did eventually buy a Fiesta from Hartwell Ford in Oxford. It was advertised on website and rang up and man told us it was availabe - ex demo etc. We paid £250 deposit which was refundable if we didn't like the car. OH went up and it was fine and drove it home. It was £1300 cheaper than the same car locally.~Laugh and the world laughs with you, weep and you weep alone.~:)0

I bought a 307 from Evanshallshaw and 2 months later the car has been in the garage 4 times and still there.
I want an exchange for they have offered to give me £2.5K less for the car on a trade in, this can't be right...can it.
I just want a car that will get my to work and have lost faith that they can fix this car!
if you are really interested you can read the blog on the car for more info

I see that I am not the only one to be messed about by Evans Halshaw.
I contacted the internet sales team several times but I never got a reply. I then visited my local dealership and a salesman took my details and what I was looking for. He promised that he would call me back the next day but he didn't bother.
I had to find a car fast as my old one had been written off and the hire car was going back the next week so I went into the dealership again and spoke to a salesman but he was unable to find anything for me.
That evening, I found several suitable cars within my price range on the website. I repeatedly rang the salesman the next day and he eventually rang me back. All of the cars were misrepresented on the website, e.g. they were a lower spec, higher price, older, different engine and sometimes (where there was no photograph) a completely different make and model etc. Basically the website does a very good job of getting you interested but the car usually isn't available at the price on the page.
I eventually agreed on a car even though it was £400 more than the website stated. The salesman told me that I would have to pay a £200 deposit to secure the vehicle but this would be refunded if I chose not to buy (this was agreed over the phone so I have no proof of this ). I was also told that despite free insurance apparently being available on more than 25,000 cars, it didn't include this one.
I paid the deposit and they brought the vehicle to the local dealership. I wasn't that impressed and told them I didn't want it. I was told to speak to the salesman who had been dealing with it (he wasn't in that day) to arrange to get my deposit back.
I have tried repeatedly to speak to the salesman but he is never available and despite the number of messages I have left, he does not return my calls. I have spoken to his supervisor but still nothing has happened. I have written a letter to the dealer principal and still nothing has happened.
I think my next step will be my local trading standards and then my credit card company.
The moral of the story is: Don't even consider Evans Halshaw.0
