MYSTERIOUS MIDNIGHT WAP charges
Options
For the past 4 months I have seen an increase in my monthly bill by over double. Vodafone agree there's a problem but want £150 + to have the phone sent back to Apple for repair as it is 15 months old and out of warranty. Looking on the next, it appears that lots and lots of people are having the same problem and getting nowhere to. Any ideas as surely it can't be right!

It uses the data all day round and the total charges for the day get added to the bill in the midnight. The more apps you have the bigger the background data usage is.
What does the data counter in your phone say?
What tariff are you on?0 -
My 11 year old son has been receiving WAP charges at midnight since the 12th of April, each for 0.833p, I contacted Vodafone who have basically blamed a third party app for these charges though a lot of discussions on various forums state it is Vodafone who send the updates, I am £51.00 out of pocket.....Vodafone HAVE decided to refund me £15.00!?!? Do I stand any chance of receiving the rest of the charges back??:mad::mad:0

I wouldn't think so, whether it is a third party app or a Vodafone update. You still made the decision to switch on mobile data on the phone and for the phone to allow background data / auto sync . If you hadn't done then the app or update would not have worked and you would not be charged.0 -
Hi den777,
Grumbler is correct with regards to data charges if you don't have it inclusive in your price plan. It will show as a charge at midnight on the day the phone used data.
You have mentioned that there may be a fault with your handset. Is this causing the charges you have incurred?
If so, drop me an email via the address here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject. If you could include a link to your post and a contact number, I will get in touch to discuss it in more detail.
Many thanks,
Heidi

I had same problem 2 charges at 83p at midnight within 4 days of one another wife does not have data as a package on her phone and the sim activation to even have data was not activated.
I ended up overseas chat as usual they tried telling me it was manufacturers updates I gave in and insisted I wanted texts and calls incoming and out no more no less
Not the first time in last few months sneaky charges appeared they even offered free data in 1st 3 months then had cheek to charge...
My advise is check online every month0
