Ah OK - I tried using mine about 20 min or so after purchase and it didn't work, but good to hear it doesn't take quite so long!

Dunno about any Sainsbury's offer, sorry.

Should be coming up as states the offer is valid until 31st dec

I can confirm that not all Tesco's take part in the foursquare offer. My two nearest Tesco Extras do not participate in the offer. Its easier to find your nearest one with the offer, buy the £50 giftcard and then use it where it suits you best. Try typing Tesco as well as Tesco Extra in the search engine to find different stores come up.

The Sainsbury's offer sounds interesting... Is it on foursquare or do you have to register online? I don't ever seem to get these emails from Amex!

Going to get try the Tesco offer tomorrow. Does anyone know how long Tesco giftcards are valid for? Is it the standard 2 years? Wouldn't have asked but I know from this thread the House of Fraser ones only last 6 months...don't want to get caught out!

From their own website: "The card and balance will expire five years from last card use."

So it appears there's no expiry unless unused for 5 years.

Suppose I should have looked that up myself! Thanks for your help.

I've just bought the gift card so will keep an eye on my statement now. This is only the second time I've tried this sort of thing and did it wrong last time. Fingers crossed!

So much for me boycotting Tesco due to their awful customer service...
