No hardware to return as none issued(already in possession of)
Actually come to think of it, I believe all responses came from people with Indian names so I guess it was tech guys in India. Surely if they work for Vodofone they should be capable of sorting out any issues?
chanz4-just had to take a look and see what that was(doh) I can't see how/if this has been put on as it was a service i wanted(and had) prior to all the problems and that my monthly package was for 100 texts to international numbers. i certanly haven't changed anything on my phones settings(wouldn't know how to and many many years ago i tried experimenting with a phone and managed to set it onto another language lol so all settings are nver touched0 -
They have now informed me that they are sending me a new sim which will alleviate the problem(?) Hmmm I am yet to be convinced!0

On their systems they have the ability to place, A bar = full bar everything, outgoing bar = just that. sms bar = bars sms, international bar stops incoming /outoing international.
Normaly they dont enable internantional without further checksDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0 -
Payt and pay monthly are on two completely separate platforms, /QUOTE]
Only as far as billing is concerned.
I too think that you have an sms roaming bar on the network (which the customer services staff won't see on their systems)
You will need to speak to the tech team for them to remove it.
True but the spid will also be different. I'm not that technical, but the timing is certainly a coincidence.0 -

Even if part of your package is 100 texts to international numbers?
I just can not get my head around why it has all come to a stand still. Have had another email from them stating that if I can receive sms from others then the system is fine. Have spent a few hours searching for similar issues and it appears to crop up a fair bit with Vodofone and the general concensus appears to be they will not do anything because it is not their fault. Also came across similar problems with my handset(Samsung) and people inadvertently blocking. Have had the user manual out and my phone doesn't appear to have a block setting. Ds has also looked (more tech savvy than me)and he can't find one either.

No, it's not on the sim, the sms bar is on the number. changing the sim will achieve the sum total of diddly-squat.
they need to remove the sms international bar. It's not unusual for bars to go on direct on the network when numbers migrate from PaYG to contract. It won't have been put on on your account which is why they can't see it at customer services.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -

VF is not looking in the right place. It's not got anything to do with your package or whether or not you can send and receive to other numbers.
Speak to Customer Relations, they are open til 8pm I believe. They are based in the UK just so you know.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -

Hi Camelina,
It certainly seems odd that you were able to send the texts previously on PAYG and now you can't.
I will be happy to check everything from our side and if need be, raise this as a technical fault. You can contact me via the address here with WRT135 FAO Heidi in the subject. If you could include a contact number and a link to your post, I will get in touch.
Kind regards,
Heidi

Just a quick update (may be of use to others in the future)
Apparently there is (now) no roaming agreement between the two service providers.
Thanks to Heidi for getting to the bottom of the issue :A
However, as a further point I have today received a letter from the Telesales and Retention Manager insisiting that I still have to pay for the remainderof my contract if I cancel it:mad:
The major service for which I opted to enter a contract has been withdrawn. Game on!0
