put your bin out if its due for collection today

Options
i was just wondering if due to the Bank holiday wheather my bin would be collected as normal.
i had a look out on my street this morning to check to see if any one else has put their bin out for collection.
And the street was empty of bins.
i then decided to check on the councils web site to see if there would be any collections today.
And was suprised to see that collections are as normal.
so credit where its due to the council.:p

We put ours out yesterday - and they were emptied yesterday.

Manchester council must spend a fortune on paying double-time every bank holiday Monday!

It's all outsourced isn't it? The councils will pay a flat sum to a private company to deliver the service. Whether or not the company pays it workers double time on a bank holiday is up to them. I get mine collected on bank holidays, but a bit later than usual. Perhaps they at least let them have a lie-in :D

My Thursday collection will be on Saturday this week, so obviously no collections here on the bank holidays.

Our recycling got collected yesterday, but by the bin men instead of the recyclers. They took the netting from our box as well.

Our collection day is a Monday and whenever we have a holiday they come the Saturday before.

It used to chagne to the following day when BH occured but they got rid of that in the last few years and now its collected whether its a BH or not, the only time it changes is xmas eg if wednesday is xmas day etc or if bad weather.

My collection day is Monday and nowadays they come and collect on Bank Holidays.
This has happened since we went onto 2 weekly collection. If they hadn't changed to Bank Holiday collections we would have gone a month without getting our bins emptied.

Ours is one day later as if it were an ordinary Bank Holiday week, I'd check with your local council just in case.
