Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 5th June. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Morning all
Damp & dull here today.
Hubby added another waterbutt to our garden yesterday & I did some housework & some knitting.
I have a bid on each of my items on ebay so hopefully that will mean a bit of dosh coming in.
I shall have a hunt for more things to list later.
Roast chicken & new potatoes for tea today.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Morning :hello:
The concert was OK last night, but why did it look like the French flag was projected onto the palace at the end? OK, it was a wrong-way-round French flag, but it still looked more French than British
I cleaned the girls out yesterday, when I finished my hand was a bit itchy. Oh no, a mite. On closer inspection of the perches – millions of the evil little things. So we ended up emptying everything out, giving it a scrub, a spray and a good dusting of mite powder. Then the girls had to put up with their most hated thing – being held upside down and dusted within an inch of their lives. They forgave us when we threw them bread, cooked rice and weeds
Beans, peas and tomatoes are all tied to bamboo canes, and had a good soaking with rainwater. We bought 2 barrels to use as water butts, only one is in use atm. It only fills halfway because we haven’t put a bung in the hole yet, and we scoop the water out from the top because there’s no tap. I could just buy a tap from B&Q but I want a proper old one and I keep being outbidded on ebay (the only place I’ve seen them at a reasonable price).
I sorted out the freezer, the ice cream and lollies filled a drawer. I think mr tru was surprised when he saw them altogether, he didn't realise how much there was. I don't understand when they all say "there's NO FOOD!!!" when that freezer could keep us going for months. Plus there's a fridge freezer in the kitchen, with four drawers filled with frozen food. I think what they mean is "there's no pizza".
Right, I'm off to hang the washing out and sort out the girls.Bulletproof0 -
Morning Hester and all who follow,
Had a lovely day yesterday. Went to a friends' garden party. Didn't rain, just dull. Had a great group, then a guy who could really play the fiddle:T LOots of nice food and drink too. OH and two friends got drunk, so I| enjoyed watching them do silly things!:rotfl:
He's sleeping it off now!
Listed stuff on ebay, got watchers, so here's hoping.
Quiet day today, will watch the service from St Pauls, and answer somw emails.
Got to look in the freezer for dinner.
Have a good day all:TI Believe in saving money!!!:T

Good morning HH, Tru and Hilstep.
Up with the lark again-I guess decorating the bedroom is unsettling me.
Good luck with income generation HH, Tru I would love an extra freezer(I love ice cream) but no room here. Hilstep sounds like you had an amusing day. I was putting scraped wallpaper into black bags and making OH tea.
We did have a lovely supper with cottage pie made with mince from C***co . Plenty left for this evening.
Dull here but I hope it will brighten up. Better anyway than the forecast which was rain all week.
I am looking forward to a chat with DD on skype in a bit then it will be back to the decorating.
Have a good day all.

Morning all
Not too overcast today but i'm off to a shopping centre at 9am so won't be bothered if it does rain anyway!
DH has a bad throat and snoring dreadfully, I bought him some Tyrozets which were the stuff of nightmares to me as a kid but he actually likes the taste of aniseed - strange chap!
Hope you all have good productive days0 -
Good morning all,
Dull here today but at least it's not raining.
Our pet snake died yesterday. The girls were devastated. Even oldest dd who usually has a heart of stone was absolutely sobbing. That started me off, so i ended up looking like i'd been in a boxing ring where my eyes were all puffy.
Hubby fed and watered the chickens before he went to work so i could sleep in. I got up just after 7, how i wish i could go back to bed as am just sooo tired just lately.
Gammon, salad and hm wedges for tea tonight.
Wm is on so washing will go out today. More still to do. Going to hoover through today as didn't do it yesterday. I must crack on with the ironing. Sil will be popping in today as she didn't come round yesterday. She goes back home later today.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Hi Guys!
A little overcast here too this morning, but good news is, is that the patio has nearly dried:j:j:j:j They did work hard yesterday despite me moaning about OH's lack of mathematics and getting the quantity wrong as he knew best;) I did suggest the figures didn't add up, but apparently as I'm dosed up with meds and rarely get out the bedroom, I didn't know what I was talking about:D:rotfl: Why do men always think they're right? Instructions come to mind and as I always say to OH RTFM when we get something new;)
Nurses have been and today not sure what we're doing. DD and her BF are going out. WM has been on again and can be put in the TD. The fridge has also been playing up and don't really want to buy another yet. The back bit keeps filling with water, then leaking into the bottom of the fridge. OH has had a look and its not blocked? Any ideas?
OH is eating left over curry for breakfast and it stinks! I think the rest of us are having a cooked breakfast of bacon, sausage, mushrooms, beans and toast, but not sure if I really fancy it atm, but nothings on yet.
Listed a few bits yesterday and theres 3 parcels to go tomorrow. Luckily, I bought £200 of stamps before the prices went up with some cash back. The prices have gone up so much! Any parcel up to 750g is now £2.20 2nd class, even if its tiny, so smaller items are not really selling, so I might start bundling with cheaper postal prices if I can't shift them.
Anyway, I hope you all have a lovely day.

Rainy heresodding typical.
Tea party day :jnot sure how it's gonna pan out, I actually hate hosting parties and worry I won't have enough food/drink. Everyone is bringing a dish though, which means we may end up with just deserts :rotfl:. Only 8 people are coming, which is perfect cos my house isn't that big. Just need to decide now whether I should pop to Aldi for their fake Pimms or not......:rotfl:most people won't be drinking so not sure, plus I have work tomorrow.
I've painted my nails red, white and blue (pic on FB), got my red, white and blue dress ready, and my red heels. Just need to finish off the trifle, lay table out for buffet and decorate the house. But will wait for my friend to wake up before doing that.
Have a fab day all

FS you are sure he hasn't just gone into hibernation? They do it if cold or stressed and can appear completely dead. My mum made a mistake with her pet alligator when she was little0 -

foreversaving sorry to hear about your snake (((hugs)))
flutterbyuk enjoy your party , your outfit sounds great
HH good luck with the stuff on ebay
day off today :j tuesday is normally my 11 hour shift - thankyou jubileeso still sat in my pj's having a cuppa and waiting for a shed to be delivered ( bought it with my £2 savings :j:j)
I need to clear the old shed and dismantle it. TBH the only reason the shed is standing is its full to the brim of carp , once things are taken out it wont have the integrity to maintain its shape lol. I know i said I need to clear out the shed but the reality is I shall stand a good way away and instruct DH on what to keep or throw away - I have seen the 8 legged things that reside in there  (I know DH is secretly scared too :rotfl:)
it will then mean a couple of trips to the tip
I'm also planning on watching the thanksgiving service on the box too, no street parties here which is just as well as our road is incredibly steep , nothing wouuld stay on the tables :rotfl:
hope everyone enjoys their day x0
