If you purchased a car on 30th May and paid for 6 months road tax do you think the tax would run out at the end of October?

We bought one, seller bought the tax on the last day in April for us, - from the start of April, not the start of May! Luckily it was only £2.50 lost.

    Yep

    1. May
    2. June
    3. July
    4. August
    5. September
    6. October

If you had waiting until the 1st June, it would have run out at the end of November.

Was the car already taxed until May 31st? If so then the new tax wouldnt start until June 1st and last till November 30th.

If its a new car (brand new), the dealer has the option to tax for a few extra days (or weeks). My last new car came with 6 months + a week.

If you tax a used vehicle within two working days of the month-end, you can have it start from 1st of the following month, not the month which is just about to end.

If the car was taxed on the day of purchase, the license should have been requested to run from 1 June.

What was the status of the vehicle before May 30? Taxed? Sorned?

But on a technicality, the tax doesn't start until the 1 June, so the dealer can't let you drive home on the 31st May.

And how many used car dealers are honest?
