What's best for clearing brick paved driveway of weeds?

Sounds like a basic question I know. However I recently looked on Amazon to see what had the best reviews, and purchased Pathclear.

Sounded like just what I wanted, only when I came to use it, it explicitly says NOT to use it on brick paving! :o (didn't say this on the listing online by the way or I wouldn't have bought it).

I have previously tried those awful things with a little hand held sprayer which attaches to the bottle of weedkiller. It was backbreaking, took about 2 hours to cover the drive, and it didn't even work.

So I don't want one of those again, please don't suggest that!

I have bought a sprinkler bar for my watering can, and also have a mixer tub thing that attaches to my garden hose. So anything with those would be fine. But having been burnt once by buying the wrong thing, I wanted to see if anyone could recommend anything.

Apart from the Pathclear, all I can seem to find is either algae remover type products like Algon, which is not what I need, or the fiddly little mini attached spray products.

Please help!

Those little flame guns work well. You don't have to burn off each weed - just a quick pass with the flame bursts all the cell walls.

They do, and there is something very satisfying about burning the little blasted things :D

But, don't you just hate it when there is a but, eventually each brick paver will have a little black border.

Hmm think I may have to give that a miss then, I don't want to damage the drive.

    Any other ideas?

Its not damage, just a discolouration, probably caused by ground in fine ash, it may even powerwash off. But I am not promising.

It is the easiest and most satisfying method of weeding though
  • I buy a few large bags of salt from the supermarket and sweep it into the paving. Also sprinkle it on to pebbled areas works fast and lasts.

Glyphosate - sold branded like Roundup. Plants take it down to their roots on contact, but the glyphosate itself is rendered inactive on contact with soil.

A quick look shows no warning about not using on brick paving.

Pathclear is a systemic weedkiller,ie the 'poison' is absorbed into to the roots via the leaves.
How or why it can be advised not to be used on block paving i do not know,it must be a mis typed copy and paste thingy!!
It cannot possibly hurt or damage ANY type of paving!

There's a copy of the label here, which seems to suggest that PC is really only suitable for gravel
