Aldi - refused refund on special buy

As it was a special purchase, it has more than likely been supplied to Aldi with out a manufacturers warranty. A lot of supermarkets do this and have dobe so for many , many years. That is how they get the prices to what they are.
Many moons ago ( when I was 16) I worked for ASDA on their electrical counter ( the days when you had to till in the prices, so shows how long ago ! lol)
We used to get a hell of a lot of electrical stock from a company and all of it was without warranty. If we had returns and we had them in stock we would swap it, if not and the customer had proof of purchase, we could refund straight away, we hardly ever sent them for repair. Geat delight was then taken, to write the stock off and claim it back from HO then take a hammer to it and throw the remains in the skip.
More than likely, this is what should be done with your iron at Aldi. It is most probably the manager cannot be bothered to do the paperwork involved with skipping it and claiming it back. I would have a few harsh words over it and get him to ring his HO, they will tell him to refund, cannot see them putting up a fight for what they most probably bought for £8 from tefal or a wholesaler0 -
I bought an iron in Sept 2011 from Aldi for £16.99, and it has started leaking. Took it to the store today with the receipt and expected to get a refund as it is less than 12 months old but they refused saying returns were only allowed within 60 days and I should contact the manufacturer. Their helplines aren't manned today (both Tefal, and Aldi), and I obviously need a working iron now so I have bought one from Asda.
What are my rights & are Aldi right to to this?
There are no details of any manufacturers warranty with the iron as far as I can tell - I have checked the box and the handbook & other cards in the box and there is none. The Aldi website implies that I can get the money back under part "C" of their refund policy, and Tefal is not listed on Aldi's product finder for part "B" of the policy. I'm surprised I have to post this as usually Aldi have been good to me in the past.
OMG the sky is falling in.I'm not that way reclined
Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!0 -
There is no claim by Tefal that there is a warranty with the iron - I have the box and all the paperwork. There is a user guide and a list of "worldwide service centres". No warranty is in any way implied....
Your contract is with Aldi (so long as you have proof/receipt)
I would contact Aldi HO on the basis that an iron should last 12 months at least (to which Aldi have sole responsibility) - if you get no joy you will need to take them to court where a judge will also need to conclude that an iron should last longer than (well longer than you've had it) - in which case they will award ion your favour
ALDI are relying on you not bothering and so sending you on a run aroundWhen will the "Edit" and "Quote" button get fixed on the mobile web interface?0 -
Actually, technically op would have to prove the fault is inherent, otherwise it is unlikely a judge would award in ops favour.
Although there wouldnt be much point going to court anyway0 -
In consumer return querys I always ask myself "what would Jesus do?". As irons weren't around then I just write it off and resent the fact consumer law is not referenced in the bible!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
