Talkmobile frustration! Catch 22

Hi all, any advice on this would be very much appreciated.
I ordered a contract phone through E2save on Talkmobile in mid-April - credit check fine and the phone was sent out. Unfortunately the handset was faulty and they had no replacement stock (refurbished) so I sent it back and cancelled.
This weekend I ordered a new contract phone on Talkmobile through Onestopphoneshop, who have come back to me to say that Talkmobile now require a £100 security deposit due to my credit check in order to proceed. They couldn't offer me any answers, so I rang Talkmobile, who suggested that the fact that a credit check was run recently for the faulty phone may be the reason that my risk profile has changed and they require the deposit. I'm not allowed to speak to the risk assessment team that decide all this, so he has requested details and will call me back later this week.
So I'm now left in a catch 22 where I've had 2 credit checks run in short succession, which may imply risk in itself, and I don't know if the second will flag up that there has been some issue. Had I been made aware that a recent check may cause issue (despite being positive), I would have sought advice and waited before applying for any new contract.
There should be no other issues on my report and nothing has changed since the first check was run by Talkmobile, which is why I'm incredibly frustrated to be now left in this position. Does requesting/obtaining a copy of your credit report show up anything on future checks?
Many thanks for reading and I'd be grateful for any advice on what I can do

Credit check is just a check recorded to your credit file. It cannot be 'positive' or 'negative'.

Thanks grumbler, I'm aware of that - I just meant in terms of passing Talkmobile's requirements.
Any advice regarding numerous credit checks being run and how accessing your own report shows up would be appreciated.0 -
Accessing doesn't show up.0
