4 secs, or two chevrons is about 350 ft at about 60mph. Even if you need to drop back if someone overtakes into the gap, what will it add a journey? Another second? even if it happens 500 times a day, it's less than 10 minutes. And lifting off even slightly will be enough, without needing to brake. A slight hill normally gives me the gap back, whether I want it or not.
  • I find some van drivers on m1 motorway very aggressive and dangerous . Due to road works on m1 there are spec cameras dotted everywhere speed restricted to 50mph.
It's frustrating for everyone but you have no choice but to obey 50mph until it ends . But these idiots think by tailgating or driving bumper to bumper they can force you to change your speed . The really annoying thing is middle lane could be empty for them to join straightway instead they don't but eventually they get the message I'm sticking to 50 mph so get lost mate .

If they do that, slow down for your own safety.

You can't have them smashing into the back of you and leaving you with a lifetime of back pain because you had to brake hard for a hazard ahead and they were following too closely to react.
  • Thanks .
I always do keep a safe distance from vehicles in front . I just don't understand why they behave so stupidly when they can clearly see 50 mph zone enforced by spec cameras all the way . Maybe if they wash there filthy van windscreen once a while they might be able see through it and do what rest of us do .

I'm surprised how many cars must have dash cams there. All the other crash videos I've watched are mainly from street cameras, or onlookers with camcorders. (Either that or it's striders holiday snaps we're looking at here).
